26.05.2006:
Olivier Pla: "Happy, but disappointed"
We talk to Olivier Pla after his best qualifying performance of the year for DPR Direxiv GP2 Series: An eventful qualifying session for you today: how did you see it?
Olivier Pla: Actually it was okay: I'm happy but I'm also a little disappointed because I couldn't use my last set of tyres. I was right behind Viso and he made a mistake at the first corner, and I couldn't avoid him because there was nowhere to go - there was no space, he was on the racing line, so...
GP2 Series: Were you surprised that you finished so high up considering you couldn't run in the last ten minutes?
Olivier: Yeah, I said 'f**k, I'm going to be P15 or something now'! For me I think I did a good lap with my second set, but for sure it was not the best lap; some parts I didn't push too hard because I wanted to stay on track and push harder on the final set, which I couldn't do.
GP2 Series: A lot of drivers were complaining about traffic, but you seemed to be okay: how was it for you?
Olivier: I have to say I was quite lucky with my first set of tyres with the traffic: I didn't have a lot of traffic, and I know some drivers were unlucky, but for me it's okay.
GP2 Series: Overall fifth is pretty good for you here, all things considered: what are your hopes for tomorrow?
Olivier: I would like a podium and I will do my best for it, but we will see; a lot of things can happen in the race, and we could have a lot of yellow flags or safety cars, you never know, because street circuits can be like that. We will see.
