The first stage of the final Leg of Rallye de France-Tour de Corse belonged to rally leader Sebastien Loeb, though he was only 0.5 seconds ahead of rival Marcus Gronholm. Loeb's rally lead increases to 40.2 seconds over Gronholm.

Reigning champion Sebastien Loeb ended the second Leg of Rallye de France-Tour de Corse where he began yesterday morning - with the lead. Loeb had a remarkable day, taking the quickest time on two of today's four stages.

Loeb's rally lead has increased to 32.7 seconds over BP-Ford World Rally Team driver Marcus Gronholm. Brake problems which affected First Motorsport's Francois Duval in the first stage of today's leg were examined in service. A seal in a caliper failed on the front left brake.

Stage six was one of the rougher stages of the rally and was hard work on tyres for many drivers. Petter Solberg came into service with tyres so worn that the canvas was visible through the thread.
One of the reasons for this was that the road was an old one and not in the best condition for the tyres. Many drivers had punctures or tyre problems and had to change them or weiter >> |

After a short delay, due to Luca Betti stopping during stage five and blocking the road, the first car on the second stage of the Subaru World Rally Team's Petter Solberg. Solberg replaces Andreas Aigner as the first car after Aigner's retirement from the first stage of the morning. Solberg began the stage in 12th overall.

During the penultimate stage of the first leg, Sebastien Loeb extended his lead over BP-Ford World Rally Team driver Marcus Gronholm. Loeb's rally lead is now 15.5 seconds ahead of Gronholm. Gronholm finished the stage with the second fastest time but was still 10.6 seconds off Loeb's time.
