Francois Duval left his service point to start the Shakedown test - and the brake pedal went straight to the floor. By regulation, the chassis and engines used in RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada had to be used by the official teams in Rallye de France-Tour de Corse, unless they failed to finish the earlier event. BP-Ford World Rally Team driver Marcus Gronholm fought back during the second stage of the day by taking the stage's quickest time. Gronholm finished the stage 3.4 seconds ahead of Loeb. Loeb's lead was been reduced to 4.9 seconds.
