Flying in the morning's loop of stages, Jari-Matti Latvala wasn't quite so lucky on the second loop of stages this afternoon. He went off the road and damaged his radiator, resulting in him not being able to continue. In the course of his accident, his car ended up across the road and completely blocked it.

After an accident earlier in the week during testing for RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada, Manfred Stohl has fallen behind in the standings during Leg one. Stohl is currently out of drivers' points contention holding tenth place 2:04.8 minutes off of rally leader Marcus Gronholm's pace.

Two main issues seemed to affect the front runners on the first loop of stages; brakes and grip.

In special stage 2 (El Montmell 1) an accident occurred involving competitors No. 53 and 54.
Car No. 54 went off the road, but the crew was uninjured. The co-driver, Mr. Jorg Bastuck, was standing beside the car changing a wheel but was then struck by car No. 53, who went off the road at the same place.

Mitsubishi's Gigi Galli has blamed an incorrectly noted corner for his embarrassing exit from today's second leg of the Movistar Rally Catalunya. Just five cars registered times on the stage before the decision was taken to suspend it. The early favorite to win the RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada, Sebastien Loeb, leads a pack of Citroen Xsara drivers hoping to sweep the podium. After Gronholm's disappointing stage five, Sebastien Loeb now leads the rally by 27.3 seconds of fellow Xsara driver Dani Sordo. Sordo finished the final stage of the day 4.1 seconds off Loeb's pace, solidifying his position leading into Leg two. Alex Bengue, who has had a solid event thus far, finishes the final stage of the day in third. Bengue is now fifth overall.
