11.03.2006: A1 GP SERIES - CALIFORNIA, USA - DRIVER NOMINATIONS FOR QUALIFYING

The A1 teams battled cold and snowy conditions this morning to find the perfect set up for the all important Qualifying which will set grid positions for what could be the deciding race in the first World Cup of Motorsport.

After more heavy storms and snow overnight, official were forced to cancel the second session while the run off areas dried out but, the event’s third session ran smoothly with only a few minor incidents and no red flags.

A1 Team Switzerland, the only nation that can prevent France claiming the series title, will be working on their set up after finishing twenty-first on the timing sheet. Each driver is limited to three laps - effectively one "flying lap" - per session and must record at least two times, an aggregate of which will determine that A1 Team’s position on the grid for Sunday’s Sprint race (22 laps). The grid for the Feature race (44 laps) will be determined by the outcome of the Sprint race.
