The leader of the rally almost lost it all at the start of stage 12 when he slid off in a corner. "It was scary, we have to really concentrate now," he commented at the end of the special. He was still able to score second best time behind Sebastien Loeb in the Kronos Total Citroen who did a time of 5 minutes 56.3 seconds.
Mikko Hirvonen in the second Ford Focus finished third followed by Mitsubishi's Daniel Carlsson who occupies third place overall ahead of team-mate Gigi Galli. An excited Carlsson commented at the end of the stage: "The podium means everything; I'm going to give it my everything."
Galli was not happy again with his performance when he finished fifth on the stage, 0.5 seconds behind Daniel. Henning Solberg scored sixth best time. The Norwegian continues to perform well in spite of the roll he had on the second day of the rally.
Mattias Ekstrom was the only incident of the stage when he went off and got stuck in the snow, unable to rejoin the rally.
