In Marokko spulten die vier Fahrer-/Beifahrer-Teams Carlos Sainz/Michel Périn (E/F), Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz (RSA/D), Mark Miller/Ralph Pitchford (USA/RSA) und Dieter Depping/Timo Gottschalk (D/D) mehr als die Distanz einer "Dakar" ab.
Neben sogenannten Long-runs standen auch Komponenten-Erprobungen auf dem Programm, bei denen vor allem Verbesserungen in der Fahrwerks-Abstimmung und -Geometrie sowie bei der Sicht der Fahrer erzielt wurden.
