Flach, offen, spektakulär: Die „Proto Endurance Challenge" des französischen Veranstalters VdeV tritt im Rahmen des „Sechs-Stunden-Rennens" auf dem Eurospeedway Lausitz an. Die kleinen Prototypen vom Schlage eines Norma M20 F oder Radical S3 garantieren Motorsport vom Feinsten und verbreiten echtes Langstrecken-Flair.
Ligier beinahe am Ziel
Auf Titelkurs: Julien Schell, Gewinner der „Proto Endurance Challenge" 2006 ist gemeinsam mit David Caussanel auf dem besten Wege, auch in diesem Jahr für seinen Rennstall „Pegasus" die Lorbeeren der Serie zu ernten. Dem Duo fehlt nach drei zweiten und einem dritten Platz in ihrem Ligier JS49 mit der Startnummer 18 nur noch ein Sieg, um uneinholbar in Führung zu gehen.
Ihnen dicht auf den Fersen sind Phillipe Haezbrouck und Teamkollege Damien Toulemonde im Norma M20 F. Mit drei Podiumsplatzierungen in den vergangenen vier Rennen haben die beiden sich – trotz eines enttäuschenden sechsten Platzes in Dijon – weiterhin alle Chancen auf den Titel gewahrt.
José Ibanez und William Cavailhes vom Team IRS mussten ihren Norma zweimal abseits der Strecke abstellen – fanden aber in den vergangenen beiden Rennen zu alter Zuverlässigkeit zurück. Hält ihr Wagen in Klettwitz durch, sind auch Ibanez und Cavailhes heiße Kandidaten für den Titel. Zusätzlich hat IRS mit Lionel Robert und François Desprez, die auf Platz vier der Gesamtwertung liegen, ein weiteres heißes Eisen im Feuer.
Anpassungsfähigkeit und Zuverlässigkeit sind Schlüsselfaktoren
Verfolger im Nacken: José Ibanez und Willima Cavailhes vom Team IRS rechnen sich ebenfalls Titelchancen aus.
Neben der Zuverlässigkeit hängt viel davon ab, wie gut sich Teams und Fahrer auf die Strecken der kommenden Läufe einstellen können. Der Eurospeedway Lausitz mit seinem markanten Tri-Oval-Layout stellt durch die langen Hochgeschwindigkeitspassagen und das enge Infield ein besondere Herausforderung dar.
Für die flachen Flundern fällt der Startschuss am Sonntag morgen um 10.00 Uhr.

Freunde historischer Rennwagen kommen am dritten August-Wochenende auf dem Lausitzring ebenfalls auf ihre Kosten: Auch die Historische Meisterschaft VHC stattet dem einzigartigen Tri-Oval einen Besuch ab. Als drittes Highlight rundet die „Challenge Endurance GT/Tourisme" das Lausitz-Gastspiel des Veranstalters VdeV ab.
Wichtiger Hinweis für Zuschauer: Der Eintritt zum Rennwochenende der VHC auf dem Lausitzring ist frei.
Die Trainingssitzungen beginnen am Freitag (22. August) ab 9.00 Uhr. Das 90-minütige Qualifying der VHC findet am Samstagmorgen bereits ab 8.30 Uhr statt, die Modern Endurance ist ab 10.15 Uhr an der Reihe. Weitere Infos auf der Website www.vdev.fr (englisch/französisch).
