The 18-year-old Czech, who won his first Formula Master race in Oschersleben last year, will switch from his 2008 squad, Team JVA, to JD Motorsport for the upcoming season. Kral drove for JD Motorsport during the winter tests, breaking the 2.0 litre race car lap record at the Valencia circuit in Spain last December with a best lap of 1:26.577.

"I'm very happy to be joining JD Motorsport this year," said Kral. "They did such a good job last year; I knew I wanted to drive for them this season. The whole team is really good and so is the car; it's the title-winning team and car. I'm planning to do everything I can to win the 2009 title.

"I'm also looking forward to the competition; Fabio [Leimer] will be a great rival and we've known each other for a long time so it will be great fun."
