* La dernière inscription du Portugal au calendrier du Championnat du Monde remontait à 2001. Il s'agissait de la 35e édition de ce rallye crée en 1967. L'épreuve est candidate au WRC depuis 2005, date à laquelle elle s'est installée dans la région de Faro. En 2007, il s'agit de la 41e édition.

The Munchi’s Ford World Rally Team will not contest this weekend’s Rally de Portugal, the fifth round of the FIA World Rally Championship, due to a tragic racing accident involving a family member.
