Einst begeisterte Michael Chorus mit seinem pfeilschnellen Ford Fiesta die Zuschauer. Der unverkennbare Sound machte ihn zum Publikumsliebling und Schrecken aller Gegner. Nach und nach gingen dem Aldenhovener die Gegner in der 1,3 Liter Klasse aus. Fünf Jahre nach dessen letzten STT Rennen fand die Geschichte auf der Nordschleife ihre Fortsetzung.   

Wie bei Fortsetzungen so üblich treten sie meist in die großen Fußstapfen ihrer Vorgänger. Heinz-Josef Chorus wagte diesen Schritt gleich auf der schönsten, aber auch anspruchsvollsten Rennstrecke der Welt, der Nürburgring Nordschleife. Im Rahmen des 24h-Rennens pflügten die Piloten der Spezial-Tourenwagen-Trophy erstmals wieder seit 1989 durch die „grüne Hölle“. Bei seinem "Höllenritt" vertraute der gelernte KFZ-Meister wie schon sein Bruder auf einen Ford, als Ford Vertragshändler im heimischen Aldenhoven die naheliegendste Wahl.

Nach Lehrjahren im Kartsport vervielfachten sich nun in einem Ford Focus die Pferdestärken schlagartig. Mit 260 PS ging es über die Berg- und Talbahn in der Eifel. Platz zehn hieß es nach vier Sprintrunden. Drei weitere Gasteinsätze im STT H&R Cup folgten 2007 auf dem Fuße. In Assen und wieder auf dem Nürburgring mischte Heinz Josef Chorus als Gaststarter mit. In der stark besetzten 2-Liter Klasse gelang dreimal Platz fünf.

Vor großen Publikum ging es dann 2008 erneut in der Spezial-Tourenwagen-Trophy an den Start. Diesmal konnte sich die STT vor fast 200 000 Zuschauern beim ADAC Truck Grand Prix empfehlen. Mit zwei dritten Plätzen hinter den STT Routiniers Joachim Bunkus und Jürgen Hohenester sprangen die bis dato besten Platzierungen heraus. Beim STT Finale war der 36-jährige, wieder mit dabei. Der Motorsportvirus war endgültig übergesprungen.

Für 2009 hat sich Heinz Josef Chorus nach zwei Lehrjahren fest in die STT eingeschrieben. Unterstützung findet er neben seinen Sponsoren Shell Station & Autohaus Chorus und Wind S.M.A.R.T. Repair Service bei seinen Teammitgliedern Dirk Huppertz, J. & I. Chorus, Claudia Penkwitz, Toni Chorus und Iris Klencz.

Vielleicht nimmt Heinz-Josef Chorus eine ähnliche motorsportliche Entwicklung wie sein 2003 leider viel zu früh verstorbener Bruder? Der hatte sich Jahr für Jahr in der damals noch gut gefüllten 1,3 Liter Klasse nach oben gearbeitet. Bald durften die siegverwöhnten VW Polo nur das Fiesta Heck sehen. Mit vier Meistertiteln liegt er immer noch auf dem vierten Rang der ewigen STT Bestenliste. Heinz-Josef Chorus war schon damals dabei, wenn auch noch als Schrauber. Der Aldenhovener weiß also wie man Erfolge feiert.
