Die beiden Fahrer des Teams BMW Motorrad Motorsport, Troy Corser und Ruben Xaus, nehmen die beiden 20-Runden-Rennen morgen gemeinsam aus der zweiten Reihe auf, nachdem sie sich für die Startplätze sechs und sieben qualifiziert haben - ihren bisher besten Qualifikationsergebnissen in dieser Saison. Heute gelang es dem Team erstmals, in die abschließende Superpole-Sitzung zu kommen, und dass dies gleich mit beiden Fahrern gelang, ist der Lohn für die bisherige harte Arbeit.
Anstatt die Startampel nur von weitem zu sehen, stehen Corser und Xaus nun in der zweiten Startreihe direkt hinter Polesetter Ben Spies (Yamaha). Zweiter in der heutigen Superpole wurde Michel Fabrizio (Ducati) vor Max Biaggi (Aprilia) und Jonathan Rea (Honda), womit wie bereits gestern vier unterschiedliche Hersteller in der ersten Startreihe vertreten sind.
Troy Corser – 6. Platz, 2:00,046 Ich glaube, unterm Strich kann ich sagen, dass ich wirklich zufrieden bin, wie diese beiden Tage gelaufen sind. Während des gesamten freien Trainings und Qualifyings gestaltete sich alles sehr positiv, und wir haben für das Motorrad gute Einstellungen gefunden. Die Balance des Motorrads ist besser und zudem konstanter – speziell auf Rennreifen. Ich habe den Eindruck, das Motorrad jetzt tatsächlich auch fahren zu können, und selbst kleine Änderungen spüre ich jetzt sofort – und das ist wirklich gut.
Alles was bislang an diesem Wochenende passiert ist, zeigt, dass wir auf dem richtigen Weg sind, und die gute Nachricht ist, dass das Motorrad sogar noch besser werden kann. Die Tatsache, dass Ruben neben mir in der zweiten Startreihe stehen wird, beweist, dass unsere Motorräder einen großen Schritt nach vorn gemacht haben, und nun dürfen wir uns darauf freuen, vom Start weg mit den Jungs an der Spitze zu kämpfen.
Ruben Xaus – 7., 2:00,096 In Anbetracht dessen, dass ich heute etwas Probleme mit dem Motorrad hatte und nicht so viele Runden abspulen konnte wie geplant, ist es richtig toll, in die abschließende Superpole-Sitzung gekommen zu sein und die Rennen morgen aus der zweiten Startreihe in Angriff nehmen zu können. Die Tatsache, dass mein Teamkollege gleich neben mir in der zweiten Reihe steht, zeigt, dass es in die richtige Richtung geht. Ich freue mich deshalb nicht nur für mich, sondern auch fürs ganze Team, denn ich weiß, wie hart alle gearbeitet haben, um auf den jetzigen Stand zu kommen.
Bei unseren letzten Tests konnten wir erstmals alles zusammenbringen und kommen jetzt einem guten Paket näher. Schon die ganze Saison über habe ich gesagt, dass dies das beste Team im Fahrerlager ist. Ich bin so glücklich, hier dabei zu sein und hoffe, dass wir morgen ein paar gute Ergebnisse einfahren, bevor alle in die Sommerpause gehen.
Berti Hauser (Leiter BMW Motorrad Motorsport) Zuerst möchte ich sagen, wie sehr ich mich für das ganze Team freue. Die heutigen Ergebnisse wurden in erster Linie durch die unglaublich harte Arbeit des Teams ermöglicht und zeigen, dass wir die richtigen Schritte in die richtige Richtung machen.
Vor der Superpole hatten wir gehofft, bis in die letzte Superpole-Sitzung zu kommen, aber dass uns dies mit beiden Fahrern gelang, macht uns mehr als glücklich. Hinter Troy liegt eine schwierige Zeit mit Verletzungen, und ich freue mich, ihn jetzt wieder lächeln und neben Ruben in der zweiten Startreihe stehen zu sehen.
