Ein Wochenende mit Höhen und Tiefen erlebte die Interwetten.com Mannschaft beim Saisonfinale der World Series im spanischen Motorland Aragon. Mit viel Zuversicht und dem festen Ziel, einen guten Saisonabschluss zu erreichen, reiste das Wiener Team mit Salvador Duran und Mihai Marinescu auf die neue spanische Rennstrecke mitten im Nirgendwo nahe der Stadt Alcaniz.

Nach dem ersten Test auf feuchter Strecke am Freitag schien auch alles noch nach Plan zu laufen. Salvador Duran fand sich unter den Top 10 wieder und kam schnell auf dem anspruchsvollen Kurs zurecht. Auch Marinescus Zeiten konnten sich sehen lassen, so dass man zuversichtlich ins Qualifying am Samstagmorgen ging. Doch da wollte es nicht so recht laufen und beide Piloten hatten mit dem Kurs so ihre Probleme. Eine perfekte Runde gelang beiden nicht und somit fanden Sie sich auf Startplatz 22 und 24 wieder.

Im ersten Rennen am Samstagnachmittag kämpfte sich Duran auf 16 und Marinescu auf Rang 20 vor. Im finalen Sonntagslauf ging es anfangs sogar noch weiter nach vorne. Salvador schien seine Linie gefunden zu haben und konnte sogar für einige Runden die Führung übernehmen. Beim Boxenstopp bahnten sich dann Probleme an der rechten Radaufhängung an, die in Runde 21 schließlich zum Ausfall des Mexikaners führten. Mihai kämpfte sich noch bis auf Rang 17 vor. Die beiden Rennsiege holte sich der bereits gekürte Meister Bertrand Baguette vor Oliver Turvey und Jon Lancaster sowie Fairuz Fauzy und Daniil Move.

„Somit beendeten wir eine sehr durchwachsene Saison auch mit einen nicht perfektem Wochenende. Nun müssen wir uns mit aller Kraft auf die kommende Saison vorberieten und möglichst viele Testtage absolvieren, damit wir 2010 gleich von Beginn an um den Titel kämpfen können“, resümierte Teamchef Walter Raus die Saison.
