Erfolgreicher Start von Porsche ins Motorsportjahr 2010: Mit dem Porsche 911 GT3 RSR gewannen Werksfahrer Patrick Pilet (Frankreich) und Porsche-Junior Marco Holzer (Bobingen), unterstützt von Raymond Narac (Frankreich), mit klarem Vorsprung das 24-Stunden-Rennen in Dubai. Für Porsche war es der dritte Erfolg in Serie bei dem Langstreckenrennen am Golf.
„Das ist mein erster Sieg bei einem 24-Stunden-Rennen. Ich bin total happy“, freute sich Marco Holzer (21), als er im Ziel des Hitzerennens mit klatschnassem Overall aus dem Cockpit kletterte. „Mit dem Auto über die Ziellinie zu fahren und all die jubelnden Menschen an der Boxenmauer zu sehen, war ein irres Gefühl.“
Der vom französischen Team IMSA Performance Matmut eingesetzte 911 GT3 RSR absolvierte die 608 Runden auf der 5,390 Kilometer langen Strecke im Dubai Autodrome ohne größere Probleme. Der erfolgreichste GT-Sportwagen der Saison 2009 mit Meistertiteln in der American Le Mans Series, der Le Mans Series und der FIA GT-Meisterschaft startete von der Pole-Position und lag die meiste Zeit des Rennens in Führung.
Eine Schrecksekunde gab es lediglich in der ersten Stunde, als Startfahrer Patrick Pilet beim Überrunden mit einem langsameren Konkurrenten kollidierte und dabei die Hinterachse seines Porsche etwas in Mitleidenschaft gezogen wurde. „Wir hatten zunächst die Befürchtung, dass sich das vielleicht auf die Reifen auswirken würde“, meinte der Porsche-Werksfahrer, „doch das war zum Glück nicht der Fall. Wir konnten trotzdem angreifen und bis zum Schluss schnelle Rundenzeiten fahren.“
Mit diesem Sieg begann die neue Saison für Marco Holzer so, wie die alte aufgehört hatte. Zuletzt hatte er mit Richard Westbrook (Großbritannien) das Saisonfinale der FIA GT-Meisterschaft in Zolder gewonnen, jetzt mit Patrick Pilet und Raymond Narac das 24-Stunden-Rennen in Dubai. „So kann’s gerne weitergehen“, sagte der Porsche-Junior, der sich bei seinem ersten Einsatz für das Team IMSA Performance Matmut sichtlich wohl fühlte: „Ich wurde toll aufgenommen, alle haben mir geholfen. Dafür ein herzliches Dankeschön.“
Porsche war der mit Abstand erfolgreichste Hersteller beim ersten Langstreckenrennen der Saison: Neben dem siegreichen 911 GT3 RSR kamen noch sieben 911 GT3 Cup in den Top 10 ins Ziel.

At around 23:00 local time, 9 hours into the race, a heavy crash occured between the Ferrari F430 from AF Corse and Zengo Motorsport KFT's Seat Leon Supercopa. Driver Tamas Horvath from Hungary was rushed to the medical center. His injuries mainly contained a broken shoulder and keybone, but furthermore he is alright. The Code 60 that was flagged after some 8 hours in the race, was caused by the Porsche 997 GT3 by Besaplast Racing. At the start of the track, the car supposedly spilled some oil wish caught fire. After some commotion, driver Martin Tschornia was taken out of the car, fortunatly unharmed. Besaplast announced their retirement from the race 30 minutes later.M weiter >>
