Magny-Cours 2 L’ambition d'excellence pour les sports mécaniques français

Un contexte en constante évolution

Face à la mondialisation de la Formule 1 qui comptera à moyen terme 40% de ses Grands Prix en Europe et 60% en dehors de notre continent, face à l’émergence de nouveaux pays et de circuits de nouvelle génération, Magny-Cours, à l’instar de ses homologues européens, est confronté une évolution de plus en plus exigeante des standards du championnat, dans un contexte de concurrence exacerbée entre les différents circuits du monde.

Cette situation accentue le vieillissement des circuits historiques européens où sont nés les sports mécaniques et impose leur nécessaire mutation, sauf à risquer leur disqualification du calendrier des plus grandes compétitions, notamment de celui du championnat du monde de Formule 1 de la FIA.

S’il ne s’agissait que d’accueillir une course de Formule 1, Magny-Cours offrirait pour longtemps encore une piste au tout premier rang de la sécurité, pour les pilotes et pour le public. Mais un Grand Prix est davantage qu’une course ; il s’agit également d’un événement marketing durant lequel, notamment sur le Paddock, se rencontrent d’importants intérêts économiques et commerciaux à une échelle internationale.

Il s’agit de plus d’un événement médiatique de portée mondiale, la place des médias étant au coeur d’un Grand Prix. Formidable caisse de résonance pour une région et un pays, la mondovision, en retour, souligne les différences entre les circuits, les avancées ou les retards.

Il s’agit en outre d’un laboratoire de recherche pour les hautes technologies liées à l’automobile. Les exigences d’accueil relatives à cette fonction ont connu, ces dernières années, des évolutions importantes, notamment pour la standardisation des espaces de travail des teams.

Il s’agit enfin d’un événement confronté à l’élévation du niveau d’exigence pour l’accueil du public.

L’ensemble de ces évolutions structure les orientations qui doivent définir le projet Magny-Cours 2, palier désormais indispensable à la sauvegarde de l’avenir, projet nécessaire à la pérennisation de la Formule 1 en Nièvre et en Bourgogne mais aussi à l’attractivité de notre pays pour la Formule 1.

 

Le complexe de sports mécaniques de Nevers Magny-Cours

Situé de façon privilégiée à l'écart d’une zone urbaine, évitant ainsi les nuisances qui seraient engendrées pour la population concernée, l'ensemble de ce complexe comprend :

- une piste Grand Prix d'une longueur de 4 411 mètres ;

- une piste Club de 2 250 mètres ;

- une piste Karting de 1 110 mètres ;

- un bâtiment regroupant :

- des installations techniques (stands et paddock), une direction de course et
  un PC de sécurité ;

- des espaces destinés à l’accueil des médias, comprenant une salle de presse et des cabines de commentateurs, ainsi que des espaces de réception tels que les l loges, le Club F1 ou la terrasse Paddock Club ;

- des bureaux pour les organisations de courses et la Société du Circuit ;

- un centre médical ;

- un centre de contrôle technique ;

 

Destiné à recevoir les plus grandes compétitions internationales, ce complexe dispose également :

- d'une homologation pour l’accueil de 139 000 spectateurs, dont 44 000 en tribunes ;

- de 35 000 places de parking ;

- du plus grand héliport de France avec une capacité d’accueil de 120 appareils.

Enfin, une salle de visioconférence de 268 places, une salle thématique d’une capacité d’accueil de 300 personnes et le musée Ligier viennent compléter cet ensemble exploité par la Société du Circuit, composée de professionnels rompus à la gestion, à l'organisation et à la promotion des plus grandes manifestations internationales.

Chaque année, ce sont près de trois millions d'euros que le Conseil général de la Nièvre investit pour le maintien à niveau et pour l'adaptation de ce circuit à l'évolution des normes de sécurité des pilotes et du public, lui permettant d'obtenir le renouvellement de ses homologations par les services de l'État et les fédérations sportives nationales et internationales, auto et moto.

Toutefois, au regard des standards actuels et à venir des différents championnats du monde, l’équipement marque aujourd’hui le pas :

- les stands sont devenus trop exigus ;

- la salle de presse offre désormais une capacité d’accueil insuffisante ;

- les espaces réceptifs ne sont plus adaptés ;

- les tribunes de la ligne droite des stands ne sont pas couvertes.
