Alex Salvini (Husqvarna Cross 2 R) is new holder of the red plate in the FIM MX3 World Championship. Salvini won both races in Greece and passed Campano for four points in the Championship Classification. Carlos Campano (Team Yamaha Andalucia) finished second, Milko Potisek (Honda France) took third place.
It was a hot weekend in Megalopolis. Riders did not have an easy work to do. Track was exacting and riders could show all their abilities. As expected Alex Salvini and Carlos Campano were competing for the top in both races. Salvini was decided to take the top of the Championship and Campano could not defend the red plate. Campano took the first holeshot.
Spanish rider was trying everything to keep Salvini back, but Italian was too strong. Salvini won the first heat although Campano was fighting till last meters. Martin Zerava (UFO Racing) was third. Already after first heat Salvini took first place in the MX3 Classification. But it did not mean anything for the final classification. Also in Bulgaria Salvini became the leader after first heat and then he lost first place again in the second heat.
Everybody was waiting what will happen in second part of the Greek race. Salvini started with the holeshot. Campano was riding second and started to push on Salvini. With exciting actions they made great spectacle for Greek crowd. Salvini was stronger and Campano lost the red plate. Third was Milko Potisek. He was close to the top three also in the first heat but made a mistake.
Salvini took 50 points in Megalopolis. Italian is now 4 points in front of Campano. Potisek finished third overall and made his first top three result in the MX3 World Championship. Dario Arco (Yamaha Argentina) finished fourth. Arco missed the podium for only one point. Zerava who made good result in first heat crashed in second and finished fifth overall.
Alex Salvini and Carlos Campano are far from their rivals. Third rider of the MX3 World Championship Matevz Irt (Husqvarna Tecno B) is 40 points behind. Irt crashed in second heat and lost points to second place. Martin Zerava is fourth, Dario Arco is fifth and has only nine points to Zerava.
Next event for the FIM MX3 World Championship will be 13th June in Holice, Czech Republic.

1st – ALEX SALVINI (Italy): »I am so concent with the weekend! Yesterday the pole position was mine and I knew I can do top result today. In first heat I took a good start and passed Campano. That was a way to win. In second I took first holeshot this season. We had a great fight with Campano again but when I passed him back after some exciting fights, I won easily.”
2nd – CARLOS CAMPANO (Spain): »This race was difficult. Salvini was riding very fast all the time. I am tired. I feel exhausted but I don’t know why. I had also some problems with the bike. I tried to win at least second race and take overall win. Alex was too fast today. I lost the leading position but we are still close.”
3rd – MILKO POTISEK (France): »Today was great day for me, I finished on podium finally. I crashed in first heat, in second I finished fourth. That is very good for me. Track was well prepared. Race was difficult because of the really hot weather. Track was becoming more difficult after many deep lines and I had only one bike, so I could not afford any big mistake.”
