Double Champion d'Europe, pas de hasard pour Intrepid

A deux semaines d’intervalle, Intrepid est monté deux fois sur la plus haute marche d’un podium de Championnat d’Europe : Varennes avait couronné Bas Lammers en KZ1, Genk a décerné le titre de Champion d’Europe KF3 à Alexander Albon, pour sa première grande victoire, après une large domination en préfinale et finale, tandis que le jeune Erwan Julé, engagé par Intrepid France, réalisait des performances de premier plan. En France, Thomas Ricci remportait dans l’intervalle la Bridgestone Cup en Rotax Max.
C’est aux deux extrémités de la compétition internationale que les châssis Intrepid ont décroché les titres européens cette année : en KZ1, catégorie reine qui regroupe les pilotes les plus expérimentés et les mécaniques les plus puissantes, mais aussi en KF3, la catégorie des Juniors, les étoiles montantes du karting qui se préparent à inscrire leurs noms au firmament des sports mécaniques. Que ce soit dans la fraîcheur et l’humidité du début de saison ou en pleine chaleur au coeur de l’été, les châssis orange ont toujours une longueur d’avance.
Les pilotes Intrepid ont trusté les meilleures places tout au long du difficile Championnat d’Europe KF3. Épreuve particulièrement ardue à cause de l’enjeu, un titre majeur CIK-FIA, du niveau des prétendants sélectionnés lors des Qualifications Européennes et des conditions éprouvantes avec une météo caniculaire, la course de Genk a mis encore une fois en valeur le potentiel des châssis Intrepid aux mains de différents pilotes. C’est d’abord le Russe Egor Orudshev, vainqueur de la Winter Cup, qui signe le meilleur temps au chrono, puis 4 pilotes Intrepid qui occupent les 4 premières places au classement intermédiaire, avec 5 victoires de manches qualificatives à la clé.
En France, Thomas Ricci imposait son Intrepid en Rotax Max lors de la Finale de la Bridgestone Cup à Laval, preuve qu’Intrepid a la victoire dans le sang, quel que ce soit le niveau. Ricci est en effet le prototype du pur amateur, talentueux mais avec un budget très serré, qui a pu monter sur la plus haute marche du podium avec un matériel au top : « Je n’ai presque rien eu à faire sur le châssis, il était tout de suite dans le coup et j’ai pu me concentrer sur les courses: un vrai plaisir, décuplé par cette victoire à laquelle je n’osais pas rêver ! »
A partir de ce moment, Alexander Albon entame son parcours victorieux : leader du classement intermédiaire, il remporte ensuite largement les deux courses: plus de 3 secondes d’avance en préfinale et près de 5 secondes lors de la finale décisive. Albon a dominé la concurrence avec une aisance insolente, profitant de l’efficacité de son Intrepid pour faire éclater toute l’étendue de son talent. La cause est entendue, Intrepid mérite sans contestation aucune la couronne européenne KF3.
Mais les châssis Intrepid ne sont pas réservés aux champions confirmés... Vecteurs importants de la réussite, ils permettent à de jeunes espoirs ou à des purs amateurs de se faire remarquer. Erwan Julé en a été un bon exemple pendant ce championnat d’Europe. Bon pilote Cadet en 2009, Erwan a découvert la KF3 internationale cette saison. Bénéficiant d’un matériel performant aux couleurs Action Karting / Intrepid France, il a pu apprendre rapidement.
S’il ne se bat pas encore pour la victoire, il a réussi deux faits d’armes majeurs à Genk : tout d’abord un 3ème temps absolu au chrono et ensuite une remontée d’anthologie en finale. Parti 30ème à la suite d’un abandon en préfinale, il gagne la bagatelle de 17 places en terminant 13ème !
