Saint Jean d’Angely ready for the comeback after overseas

After the two overseas Grand Prix in the USA and Brazil, the FIM Motocross World Championship is back to Europe to celebrate the fifth round of the season. Saint Jean d’Angely will not only host the fifth GP of the season, but also the second round of the UEM EMX-2 class.

Clement Desalle lands in France being the current MX1 leader, after recuperating the red plate in Glen Helen. Max Nagl is second in the point standings, closely followed by Antonio Cairoli.

In the MX2 class, Ken Roczen keeps on leading the point standings, but Jeffrey Herlings has already won two out of four Grand Prix, so the competition is more exciting than ever. Tommy Searle keeps on being third, 21 points away from Herlings.

The UEM EMX2 Championship is also present in Saint Jean d’Angely to celebrate the second round of the series. Michael Van Wezel is the current leader, followed by Jens Getteman and Aleksandr Tonkov.

Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1’s Clement Desalle is still the red plate hoder and he is determined to improve his last year’s third position in Saint Jean d’Angely and increase the points difference with his pursuers. At the moment, the Belgian rider has an eleven points advantage over second classified Max Nagl.

Red Bull Teka KTM factory racing Max Nagl did not have a very good weekend in Glen Helen and he lost some important points for the chase of the Championship. Last year Nagl could not take part in the French GP due to his collarbone injury, so he is looking forward to racing this weekend in the French track.

His team mate Antonio Cairoli has done an impressive improvement in the point standings and he moved from 10th to third in the last Grand Prix’s. At the moment, he is just two points behind Nagl and 13 points away from current red plate holder Desalle.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s David Philippaerts arrives in France being fourth in the point standings after winning the last GP in Indaiatuba. The Italian confessed that he really needed such victory for his self-confidence and he is now ready to repeat his 2010 overall victory in Saint Jean d’Angely.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Steven Frossard led the MX1 Championship after the GP of the Netherlands, but he could not keep the red plate and he is now fifth in the point standings. Frossard is riding at home this weekend, so he might obtain his maiden MX1 overall victory in front of his crowd this weekend.

Other French Xavier Boog is also looking forward to this Grand Prix, not only because he races home but also to improve his current 11th position in the point standings after having being proclaimed the French Motocross Champion last weekend.

Ben Townley will also be present at the starting grid this weekend, after having missed the last two overseas GP.

2010 MX1 PODIUM:

1. David Philippaerts
2. Antonio Cairoli
3. Clement Desalle

2010 MX1 POLEMAN: Antonio Cairoli

Red Bull Teka KTM Factory MX2’s Ken Roczen is the red plate holder with a 14 points advantage over his team mate Jeffrey Herlings. The German was 12th last year in Saint Jean d’Angely, so he is determined to do a good performance this weekend in front of his French fans.

Second in the FIM MX2 World Championship is Jeffrey Herlings, who is tight in GP wins with Roczen and he is focus to get closer to the top of the standings. Herlings was fifth last year in France, tight in points with fourth classified Shaun Simpson.

CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Tommy Searle keeps his third position in the Championship and he is looking forward to racing this weekend for his maiden GP victory of the season.

His compatriot Zach Osborne from Bike-it Cosworth Wild Wolf Yamaha, who is fourth in point standings, was third overall last year in Saint Jean d’Angely. Being on the podium this weekend would be a great compensation for the hard work Osborne has done so far.

Completing the top five is Monster Energy Yamaha’s Gautier Paulin, who won the qualifying race last year in Saint Jean d’Angely. However the French was only eighth overall, so this weekend he is fully motivated to race for the overall victory in front of his crowd and climb up some positions in the point standings.

Belgian rider Joel Roelants has very good memories from last year’s French GP as he was on the second step of the podium. At the moment Roelants is ninth in the point standings, so if he repeats his last year’s performance, he might climb up some positions in the championship standings.

2010 MX2 PODIUM:

1. Marvin Musquin
2. Joel Roelants
3. Zach Osborne

2010 MX2 POLEMAN: Gautier Paulin

The UEM EMX2 Championship started in Valkenswaard at the end of May with home rider Michael Van Wezel as the first overall winner of the season. The Dutch rider will have to show his talent this weekend on the hard pack and keep the leadership of the Championship. Second in the Championship is Belgian rider Jens Getteman and completing the top three is Russian Aleksandr Tonkov.

The track conditions are completely different from the ones in Valkenswaard, so this weekend might be the chance for the hard pack specialist to show their riding skills.
