Fascinating round for the Superstars Series, on stage from tomorrow on at the legendary circuit of Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) for the seventh weekend of the season, valid both for the Italian and International championships.
The reigning champion Thomas Biagi has on his scoreboard several positive results in the traditional 24hours race held every year on the challenging Ardenne's track, among which the second absolute place of 2007 and the GT2 pole position of 2008.
The challenge is going to be even more difficult this time for the Italian driving for BMW Team Italy as, despite not having sportive ballast on board his BMW M3, the long straights partially climbing will make the cars with higher capacity engines more difficult to face.
Weather conditions will be once again an unpredictable unknown, with intermittent rain scheduled for Friday and Saturday, while on Sunday patches of clear sky are awaited.
With three rounds to the end of the International Series, Biagi is currently fourth at 94 points, 24 shy of the leader; same position in the Italian championship where his gap is down to 13 points only.
Thomas Biagi:
"I quite enjoy racing in Spa which I reckon is one of the three or four best racing circuits in the world. We will have a difficult weekend anyway, where we will have to defend ourselves in the first and third sector to try and get the most out of the agility of our BMW M3 in the middle part of the track; a wet tarmac should not change much the values on the field.
Despite the long trip, the guys of my Fans Club will be present as usual and their support will give me further motivation to keep my determination at the highest levels".
