En arrivant à Sebring, nous aurions signé des deux mains pour obtenir un tel résultat : partager un podium en LMP1 WEC avec Audi !
Nous étions venus pour honorer notre engagement au FIAWEC, et marquer des points. Avec notre Pescarolo 01-Judd datant de 2009, etet son handicap de poids imposé, le challenge se révélait difficile, et la concurrence très affutée. Beaucoup de nouveautés dans l’incomparable paddock de Sebring, et un grand enthousiasme pour le nouveau Championnat.
Nous savions que nous pouvions compter sur nos points forts : fiabilité, expérience, et motivation de chacun des membres de l’équipe autour de Henri Pescarolo.
Débuter la saison 2012 par un tel podium, c’est effectivement la meilleure manière de motiver encore plus l’équipe qui prépare un programme ambitieux avec la construction de la toute nouvelle Pescarolo 03-Judd, et l’évolution de la Dome S102.5. Ces deux nouvelles LMP1 feront leurs premiers tours de roue en course à Spa le 5 mai.
La stratégie de Pescarolo Team s’est révélée payante. Tours dans les 10 premiers depuis le départ, le podium était devenu envisageable dans le dernier tiers de la course. Une fois encore Pescarolo Team a démontré la qualité de la préparation de ses voitures, l’expérience de son équipe technique : aucun problème mécanique pendant la semaine d’essais et de course, des arrêts au stand toujours aussi impeccables.
L’équipage de pilotes, reconstruit pour cette saison avec Emmanuel Collard qui retrouve son ami Jean-Christophe Boullion, et le jeune Julien Jousse déjà intégré en 2011, a su ajouter au palmarès de la vieille Pescarolo 01 un magnifique résultat.
Henri Pescarolo : « Je suis extrêmement satisfait de ce résultat, mais je ne peux m’empêcher de regretter le tour perdu lors d’une rentrée au box prévue mais contrariée par la fermeture de la pit lane. Un nouvel arrêt nous a fait perdre l’espoir d’une 3ème place au classement général. «
