Tockwith Motorsports have confirmed their entry into the opening round of the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship at Donignton Park this weekend (22-23 April).

Sarah Moore will team up with 2006 Le Mans 24 Hours class winner Richard Dean in a Ligier JS P3 sports prototype. Sarah tested the Tockwith Motorsports Ligier JS P3 at Portimao, Portugal in February, but has raced in sports cars for a number of years. In 2009, Sarah won the Ginetta Junior Championship and became the first female racing driver to win a race on the TOCA package.

Richard Dean is a British racing driver and multiple championship and race winner in many different formulas. He is best known for racing in the Formula Ford and British Formula 5000 Championships.

In 1990, he won the Oulton Park Gold Cup and in 1995 became Team Owner of Team JLR, running drivers such as Justin Wilson, Dan Wheldon, Rob Bell and current United Autosports driver, Christian England.

In 1998 Richard won the GT2 British GT Championship. It was while Richard was Managing Director at Ginetta cars that he, alongside Tom Kimber-Smith and Lawrence Tomlinson won the Le Mans 24 Hours GT2 class.

Richard has previously raced alongside Sarah’s brother, Nigel Moore in the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours in a Ginetta LMP1 car.

Tockwith Motorsports, who are reigning Asian Le Mans Series LMP3 Champions, are hoping for a repeat of their success in the inaugural LMP3 Cup Championship round at Snetterton in October last year, where Nigel Moore and Phil Hanson took victory ahead of Christian England and Bradley Smith.

The Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship begins on Saturday 22 April with the Free Practice session at 10:35. Qualifying is at 13:10, with race one at 15:25. On Sunday 23 April, qualifying begins at 12:00 with the second race at 15:40.

Sarah Moore, driver, Tockwith Motorsports:

“The Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship is developing into a very competitive series and I’m pleased to say I’ll be taking part in the first round of the year. I’m looking forward to racing with the family team and with Richard.

He’s a rapid driver and a good font of knowledge to have around with his experience of the car. I think we’ll work well together and I can’t wait to get going on Saturday.”

Richard Dean, driver, Tockwith Motorsports:

“I’m excited to be racing in the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship this weekend and alongside Sarah. She’s a quick driver so I’m glad she’s got this opportunity to run in an LMP3 car - I think it will really suit her.

I have tested the Ligier JS P3 but I haven’t raced for a while, other than in some of the historic races with United Autosports so I’m looking forward to getting out in a modern race car again. I’ve known the guys at Tockwith Motorsports for a very long time and I’m excited to be racing for them.”

Simon Moore, Team Principal, Tockwith Motorsports:

“I’m thrilled we are entering the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship at Donington Park. The inaugural event last year was fantastic so it’s great to see a full season getting underway in 2017. I’d like to welcome Richard to the team for this race too. I’m really pleased he will be racing alongside Sarah so fingers crossed for a good result.”
