Double podium ends Imperiale Racing’s season in the Italian GT Championship 2017

10.10.2017: ITALIAN GT CHAMPIONSHIP Imperiale Racing ended the Italian GT 2017 Championship

Imperiale Racing ended the Italian GT 2017 Championship in Mugello with a stunning performance with both lineups on the podium in race one.

The Italian outfit has therefore achieved the goal set at the eve, that is closing the season on a high and taking the seventh podium of the season thanks to the great performance of the Lamborghini Hurácans driven by Alessandro Bonacini, Nicola Pastorelli (#123), Luca Demarchi and Ivan Benvenuti (#146), that have been absolute protagonists on track since free practice on Friday.

In Q1, Pastorelli secured the third row of the grid on the #123 car completing his best lap in 1’49.458s, that was worth P5, while Benvenuti posted a fast lap of 1’51.689s placing the other car in the seventh spot of the grid.

Imperiale Racing’s drivers repeated such a good performance in Q2, when Bonacini posted a 1’49.458s that was fifth fastest again, while Demarchi qualified sixth in 1’50.115s.

Pastorelli has been a great protagonist of race-1, thanks to a great start on the #123 that allowed him to get P2 since the first lap. His progression has then been perfect and allowed Bonacini to rejoin with a good margin on the rivals after the pit stop. The safety car in the closing stages did not prevent the driver pairing to take a deserved second place at the flag.

The race of the #146 Lamborghini Hurácan has also been quite exciting. Benvenuti has put in a good start from the fourth row and an effective stint allowed him to recover several positions. After the pit stop, Demarchi kept the momentum completing the twenty-five laps in P3 rounding off an extraordinary double podium for Imperiale Racing.

Race two has also been positive. Bonacini has led the #123 at the start putting in some wise driving until the pit stop. Pastorelli has then taken over and managed to take a positive P5 despite the safety car and the red flag.

Demarchi had a great start on the #146 car and he did not slip in the pitfalls of the initial stages, while Benvenuti has also been very consistent in the second stint crossing the line in P6.
