DAKAR RALLY 2018
Stage 6  Arequipa - La Paz
Thursday, January 11th, 2018

Benavides leads the bike race

With his second place in La Paz today, 30 seconds behind Antoine Meo, Kevin Benavides has taken command of the general standings with a lead of a little less than two minutes over Adrien Van Beveren. On only his second Dakar, the official Honda rider has been very consistent and is a serious candidate for outright victory.

14:57 Antoine Meo wins stage 6!

After his fine fourth place yesterday, Antoine Meo has taken advantage of the rally’s arrival in Bolivia and its fast tracks to pick up his first success in 2018. The Frenchman has won by a whisker, just 30 seconds ahead of his team-mate Toby Price and the new general standings leader Kevin Benavides.

14:06 Price takes the lead

Toby Price has taken the lead in the special at WP8. However, the stage is far from over, because the Australian is only six seconds ahead of his team-mate Antoine Meo and 15 seconds in front of the Honda ridden by Kevin Benavides.

13:57 Oliveras and Quintanilla in with a chance

Starting far behind the leaders following a difficult day yesterday, Daniel Oliveras and Pablo Quintanilla have no choice but to attack. Both men are in the reckoning for victory at CP1, respectively 31 and 45 seconds behind De Soultrait!

13:05 De Soultrait lets loose

Xavier de Soultrait is enjoying a good start to this first Bolivian stage. The Yamaha rider boasts the best time at CP1 with a 50-second lead over Toby Price. Kevin Benavides is 1’08 behind whilst Joan Barreda, who is opening the way today, already lies 2’42 behind the stage leader.
