C’est dans onze semaines, soit les 30 mars et 1er avril, que le coup d’envoi de l’European VW Fun Cup 2018 sera donné sur le Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps à l’occasion du Franco Fun Festival.



En coulisses, les équipes œuvrent donc pour préparer cette nouvelle campagne, réunir les budgets nécessaires et tester de futurs pilotes potentiels. Alors que nous ne sommes pas encore à la mi-janvier, le promoteur Kronos Events est heureux d’annoncer avoir déjà à ce jour trente voitures engagées pour la saison complète. Un chiffre bien évidemment appelé à gonfler !



Pour sa septième saison en tant que promoteur et organisateur de cette compétition "Seriously Fun", Kronos Events peut donc s’attendre à un "grand cru".



« Ce succès actuel, avec ces engagés à l’année – en Monoplaces et en Biplaces – qui seront rejoints par les voitures qui s’aligneront "course par course", nous donnera assurément des pelotons réguliers de plus de 40 voitures ! », se réjouit grandement Vanessa Bouchat, la Series Manager.



« On note aussi l’arrivée de nouveaux teams néerlandophones, ainsi qu’un regain d’intérêt pour la catégorie Evo2, celle qui regroupe les moteurs 1900cc diesel de 160 chevaux. De quoi garantir une course dans la course bien disputée ! »



Ces dernières semaines, plusieurs équipes ont révélé leurs ambitions. Et une chose est sûre : la lutte pour le titre s’annonce plus ouverte que jamais. Ainsi, on a appris que Kevin Caprasse rejoindrait Christophe Nivarlet, Fred Caprasse et Kevin Balthazar sur la #280 Milo Racing. Du côté de Jac Motors by MTE, on s’est tourné vers Mathieu Detry pour épauler Michaël Leenders et Laurent Jaspers !



Champion en titre avec Allure Team, Guillaume Mondron rejoindra les rangs de DRM Motorsport, où il partagera le volant de la #2 avec son frère Edouard et le "Français de Belgique" Amaury Richard. On n’oubliera pas non plus le SP Racing de Pascal Raes et Sébastien Incardona, qui visera le podium final après sa 4e place de 2017. Et ce n’est pas tout, d’autres nouvelles étant attendues dans les prochaines semaines… Bref, les équipages revendiquant la victoire seront plus nombreux que jamais !



« La saison 2018 de l’European VW Fun Cup s’annonce incroyable », s’enthousiasme Marc Van Dalen, le CEO de Kronos Events. « Pour la première fois, notre équipe ne devra pas partager son temps entre deux championnats et nous concentrerons toutes nos forces sur la VW Fun Cup.



Notre approche connaît un succès grandissant et je suis impatient que se révèlent peu à peu les prochains équipages. J’en suis aujourd’hui convaincu : nous allons assurément vivre l’une des plus belles saisons de la discipline ! »
