The mid-way point of the season already for the Alpine Elf Europa Cup!

11.07.2018: After Paul Ricard and the Nürburgring, the Alpine Elf Europa Cup will come to the half-way point of its season at the conclusion of the two races to be contested at the Dijon-Prenois circuit (July 14-15).

After Paul Ricard and the Nürburgring, the Alpine Elf Europa Cup will come to the half-way point of its season at the conclusion of the two races to be contested at the Dijon-Prenois circuit (July 14-15).

Winner of three of the first four rounds, Pierre Sancinéna (CMR) would like to add to his lead before the summer break.

With a calendar made up exclusively of legendary circuits, the Alpine Elf Europa Cup will be in action at Dijon-Prenois this weekend, at a meeting reuniting France’s premier championships. This track in the heart of Burgundy will be forever remembered for the incredible duel between René Arnoux and Gilles Villeneuve during the 1979 French Grand Prix.

Nearly 40 years later, the circuit still has its undulating and natural character that no chicane can disturb. The drivers of the 17 Alpine A110 Cup cars will have assuredly have a great time in the two races, scheduled for Saturday at 14:35 and Sunday at 11:20.

Recognized as one of the favourites of this inaugural season, Pierre Sancinéna has had a dream start to the season. Unbeaten in qualifying with four pole positions, the driver from Rouen also has three wins and leads in the general classification. At Dijon, the CMR team driver’s ambition is to keep the momentum going.

Among the drivers determined to take the battle to the leader, Nicolas Milan (Milan Compétition) is in the best position. Thanks to four podium results, the driver-preparer us only 10 points adrift of the leader. After making a breakthrough at the Nürburgring, he is now looking to score his first career victory win in a rear-wheel drive car!

Gentleman category leader, Sylvain Noël (Racing Technology) is third in the general classification, a few points ahead of two drivers who struggled in Germany : Vincent Beltoise (CMR) and Jean-Baptiste Méla (Autosport GP). Conversely, Laurent Hurgon (Autosport GP) wants to show the same race craft that took him to his first podium finish last time out.

Following the start to his season at the Nürburgring, local driver Marc Guillot (Milan Compétition) will be aiming for a strong result. The five time Clio Cup Champion, with three titles in France and two in Spain, has also taken up the rear-wheel drive challenge this season.

In addition to Thomas Padovani, the Milan Compétition team has also entered Jean-Marc Thévenot. Marc Guillot’s father-in-law will race the n°9 A 110 Cup that is usually driven by Philippe Bourgois.

Competitive at the Nürburgring, Mathieu Blaise (Racing Technology) will look to close up to the top 5. He will have to contend with the likes of Marc Sevestre (Autosport GP) and Grégory Romano (CMR), two particularly quick Gentleman drivers. Stéphane Proux and Franc Rouxel (Automeca) will also be looking to join the battle.

Pierre Combot will make his debut in Pierre Macchi’s Autosport GP entry. And finally, the n°110 A110 Cup car will be driven by journalists Romain Bernard (AUTOhebdo) in race 1 and Mathieu Sentis (L’Argus) in race 2.
