New Country Competizione had another successful weekend at Watkins Glen for round five of the 2018 North American Ferrari Challenge Series with a win and several podiums from their seven entries in the Trofeo Pirelli, Trofeo Pirelli Am, Coppa Shell, and 458 EVO categories.

The seven cars for New Country Competizione included Peter Ludwig in the #11 Tephseal/Kemperle/Strategic/Datto/ Trofeo Pirelli 488, Ross Chouest in the #25 Wesport/C Port Trofeo Pirelli Am 488, Dave Musial in the #30 Lake Forest Sports Cars/Four Seasons Heat & AC Trofeo Pirelli Am 488, Jason McCarthy in the #115 Five Rings Coppa Shell 488, Chris O’Donnell in the #172 Coppa Shell 488, Danny Baker in the #221 EM Logistics 458 EVO, and Bill Kemp in the #228 Kemp Homes 458 EVO.

Qualifying 1 saw Peter Ludwig on the front row for the Trofeo Pirelli category, while Ross Chouest classified 3rd in the Trofeo Pirelli Am class and Dave Musial in 5th.

Jason Mc Carthy started 4th in the Copa Shell class and Chris O’Donnell 13th after suffering an accident during a practice session. New Country Competizione’s 458 EVO drivers, Danny Baker and Bill Kemp started respectively 6th and 10th for Race 1.

Peter Ludwig finished Race 1 in 2nd place for the Trofeo Pirelli podium, while Ross Chouest had a brilliant drive and won the Trofeo Pirelli Am race after a blistering start from 3rd to 1st.

Dave Musial was involved in a racing incident that left him unable to finish the race after he was hit from behind by another competitor. Chris O’Donnell rebuilt his confidence lap after lap and finished in 10th.

Jason McCarthy ended up 4th posting the second fasted lap of the race. In the 458 class, Danny Baker came in the pits 3 laps from the end with a blown up tire while Bill Kemp moved up to 7th.

The second day saw Peter Ludwig missing the pole position by nine hundreds of a second after a competitive qualifying session with Cooper McNeil, who claimed the top spot on the grid and won the race with Ludwig finishing 2nd.

Ross Chouest finished 2nd as well in Trofeo Pirelli Am, scoring his second podium of the weekend. Jason Mc Carthy made a mistake and dropped to 8th position but did not give up and passed several competitors to finish 4th again. Chris O’Donnell kept improving after his accident and his lap times continuously got better.

O’Donnell finished 10th for the second time. Dave Musial could not take the start for mechanical reasons consequence of contact that occurred in Race 1. Danny Baker had a well-inspired race, which saw him finishing 4th, just 0.5 seconds from the podium in front of his friend Bill Kemp who finished 5th.

The next and final event of the 2018 North American Ferrari Challenge Series will be at Road Atlanta from September 15-16th.

Eric Bachelart – Managing Director

“We had a very busy but very fun weekend at Watkins Glen. We were very excited to see Ross on top of the podium again and witness the progress of all our drivers. Peter fought for the win on both races and Jason is making a lot of progress each time and was a podium contender all weekend.

Danny and Bill in the 458 EVO’s were pushing hard and Danny missed the podium on race two by just 0.5 seconds. It was great to see Chris back with us aboard his new 488, but we were heartbroken with Dave with a double non-finish. Hats off to the whole team for an incredible effort all weekend long.”
