New deal welcomes South Korean manufacturer into the WorldSBK paddock

Thoughts are already turning to the 2019 season, as Hyundai Motor and Dorna WSBK Organization are delighted to announce they will be joining forces next year, as the Hyundai i30 Fastback N will become the Official Safety Car of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.

Signing the agreement will see the sensational Hyundai N the Official Car and Official Safety Car of the WorldSBK championship for three seasons, which is a fresh step for the series. Hyundai are set to debut their i30 Fastback N in October at the Paris Motor Show.

With headquarters in South Korea, Hyundai was born in 1967 and has grown to become one of the largest multinational companies in the world. With subsidiaries throughout the automotive industry, they are highly influential and are a strong supporter of the sporting world.

Joining the world’s fastest production-based motorcycle world championship, the Hyundai N Brand are built with the goal to get drivers hearts racing. Producing an everyday sports car and building race track capability into the core DNA – it is a perfect match with WorldSBK.

Keeping the loyal fan base involved in the WorldSBK paddock is an important value for Hyundai, and they will be welcoming fans to experience the feeling of the Hyundai N all around the globe.

“We are very excited to announce our partnership with WorldSBK because we share the same DNA. All N cars are corner rascals, and the essence of motorcycle racing is cornering.

WorldSBK is the fastest production bike racing series, and all N cars are race track capable whilst providing sports car performance in everyday driving,” said Thomas Schemera, Executive Vice President and Head of High Performance Vehicle & Motorsport Division at Hyundai.

“From our brand experience to driving experience, we will make this partnership a global platform for fans to ‘Feel the Feeling’ of N.”

Marc Saurina, WorldSBK Commerical and Marketing Directior adds:
“I’m so happy to announce this news. We are thrilled to welcome Hyundai and their N Brand into WorldSBK. Hyundai is a global brand with great quality and performance for everyone, of which a similar definition could be applied to us.

We are looking forward to start to develop ideas and strategies together, to add to the true family atmosphere of WorldSBK. Our WorldSBK Official Safety Car drivers are already dreaming of driving the N high performance vehicles.”
