- ART Grand Prix celebrates its return to DTM as a private customer team.

- After the Young Driver Test in Jerez, Robert Kubica now contests his DTM debut season.

- Kubica: "I'm really looking forward to the start of this new phase of my motorsport career".

In the 2020 season, a private customer team with BMW Turbo Power will compete in the DTM for the first time. The French team ART Grand Prix will return to the series and field a BMW M4 DTM. This brings the number of BMW race cars on the starting grid to seven.

In the 2020 DTM season, the privately entered BMW M4 DTM will be driven by a prominent driver: Robert Kubica (POL), who is making his debut season in the touring car series. The 35-year-old made his debut in the BMW M4 DTM in December at the DTM Young Driver Test in Jerez de la Frontera (ESP).

"This is really great news for the DTM," says BMW Group Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt. "We are very pleased to welcome ART Grand Prix as a private customer team in the DTM. It has always been our goal to make the DTM field even bigger and more attractive with privately entered BMW M4 DTM.

There were several options, and we have had many discussions with interested teams over the past months. In the overall consideration of all aspects, we decided on the ART Grand Prix package. After the test in Spain in December, Robert Kubica made no secret of the fact that he can imagine a future in the DTM. It's great that ART Grand Prix now allows him to compete in a BMW M4 DTM for the 2020 season. Robert has already proved during the test that he can cope very well in a DTM car. He is a real asset to the series. We keep our fingers crossed for ART Grand Prix and Robert for a successful DTM season".

"There is no need to introduce BMW, Robert Kubica or the DTM - these names speak for themselves," says ART Grand Prix Team Principal Sébastien Philippe. "

This project is very important for us, and we worked hard on it over the winter. We are approaching this project with a lot of pride and the ambition to do honour to a car manufacturer rich in tradition like BMW, which has already won several titles in the most demanding touring car series. Our goal is also to provide the best possible support to Robert Kubica, who is opening a new chapter in his already incredibly rich motorsport career.

We were last active in the DTM in 2015/16, so ART Grand Prix first has to get back into the action in this top-class championship. At the beginning of the season we won't set ourselves too high goals yet. But with the determination of our team, I hope that we will make rapid progress during the course of the season and fight for the top position.

"The DTM has been appealing to me for quite some time - and at the test in Jerez de la Frontera in December I really got a taste for it," says Kubica. "I'm really looking forward to the start of this new phase of my motorsport career. For me, the DTM is one of the strongest and best racing series in the world.

I felt at home in the BMW M4 DTM right away during the test. ART Grand Prix has been one of the big names in international racing for years. I am sure that we can achieve a lot together in the DTM. Of course we still need to gain experience compared to the renowned DTM teams, but we will work hard to continuously improve. I can hardly wait to start in the DTM.

The team from Villeneuve-La-Guyard (FRA) was founded in 2005. ART Grand Prix is a constant in international motorsport. The team is especially well known for its numerous successes in various formula series up to GP2 and Formula 2, and the crew around team boss Sébastien Philippe prepared the way to the top for many renowned racing drivers. In the DTM, ART Grand Prix has already competed in 2015 and 2016 and celebrated a total of four podium places.

In preparation for the season, ART Grand Prix and Kubica will participate in the ITR test from 16 to 18 March in Monza (ITA). The 2020 DTM season opener will be held at Zolder (BEL) from 24 to 26 April.
