Brice Tirabassi and Fabrice Gordon finished an impressive tenth in Spain, their first rally with SWRT
Corsican Fabrice Gordon is looking forward to the start of the Rallye de France Tour de Corse tomorrow, Thursday 9 October. The rally is based in the shipping town of Ajaccio, Corsica, which is the town in which Gordon lives making it truly his home rally.
Gordon is the co-driver for Frenchman Brice Tirabassi, and this weekend will be the pair’s second rally with the Subaru World Rally Team. They drive the No.14 Subaru Impreza WRC2008.
Tirabassi and Gordon finished tenth in Rally Catalunya last weekend, on their first ever rally with the team, and are hopeful of their performance on their home rally.
"Of course I am excited to be in my home event in the Subaru factory team" said Fabrice Gordon. "It’s exciting…after competing all year outside my home, to be in the WRC for my home event in Corsica, in front of my friends and my family, is very exciting.
"Brice is popular in Corsica and has many fans, so I’m sure they will be very happy to have a practically Corsican factory team. The fans always give good support, so I’m sure they are waiting to watch us!
"We had a very good experience with the Subaru in Spain last week and had a good result. I feel very good inside the car, I have all the support I need from the whole team, and it’s very exciting for me to be part of such a professional team. This is the difference from an amateur team, and it gives me a lot of confidence.
"Being able to compete on my home event this year in a factory team next to Petter and Chris is a very good present to me so Brice and I will be trying very hard for another good result."
Rallye de France Tour de Corse starts with an official opening ceremony on Thursday 9 October at 1800hrs. This will be held at the Place d’Austerlitz (Place du Casone) in the centre of Ajaccio.
The first stage of competition starts at 0918hrs on Friday 10 October. The rally starts in Ajaccio and stretches from Sartene to Sagone, and to the east to Tavera.
