WRC RALLYES -RallyRACC de Catalunya-Costa Daurada: Duval Rides Again

02.03.2006: WRC RALLYES -RallyRACC de Catalunya-Costa Daurada: Duval Rides Again

François Duval has signed on with First Motorsport to contest the RallyRACC de Catalunya-Costa Daurada, the fourth round of the 2006 FIA World Rally Championship season. The former Citroën works driver has had a slow start to the 2006 season, skipping the second and third rounds of this year's season.

Though his first and only outing of the season, Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo, ended in retirement after he ran off-road in SS9, Duval is committed to returning to the WRC this season. "The Monte Carlo Rally is a real specific event and is not representative of the rallies to come," said First Motorsport boss, Willy Collignon. "We could have ended the race and started again in the SupeRally, however, in agreement with all parties, we decided to concentrate our efforts on preparing for the Rallye de Catalunya with more tests. Our team and car proved their competitiveness. The future will surely be full of good surprises!"

The Belgian driver will be testing on asphalt to prepare for the Spanish round of the championship on 16-17 March in Spain. During this test, engineers will be evaluating mechanical differentials in order to fine-tune the Fabia for Catalunya.

The remainder of Duval's season is not as clear. At this time, no additional events have been announced, but the Belgian driver has said he is working toward future participations.
