26/10/07 - Barcelona Collective testing Megane Trophy
With not much success to his name so far this season, Ludovic Badey (TDS) has made a return to form by clocking the best time in today's collective testing at the Barcelona circuit. The TDS driver was followed by Dimitri Enjalbert (Tech 1 Racing) and Ralph Meichtry (Race Performance).
The two one-hour sessions were held on a totally dry track. This morning, Pedro Petiz (Tech 1 Racing) showed right from the outset that he was performing well by being the first driver to go faster than 1'55''. With half an hour gone, his teammate Dimitri Enjalbert then came close to the 1'54'' mark. But with ten minutes of the session left, Mike Verschuur (Equipe Verschuur) set the record straight with a whole series of quick laps, the fastest of which saw him go round in 1'53''556.
In the afternoon, most of the drivers were concentrating on trying to get the most out of their worn tyres before switching to fresh rubber as the session drew to a close. Despite some brave resistance led by Dimitri Enjalbert, Ludovic Badey set the fastest time as the only driver to go faster than 1'53''.
After having been desperately unlucky throughout his third season in Eurocup Mégane Trophy, the man from Lyon is hoping to end the season in style: "It's really quite simple. I won the only race course in which I did not fall victim to any problems [Magny-Cours 1]. I hoped to continue that run of success in Estoril, but I punctured twice. However, I know that the team is putting in every effort possible to provide me with a car that performs well. Today, everything went well and I would really like to end the season on a high before moving onto something new in 2008."
In second, Dimitri Enjalbert did much better than his Tech 1 Racing teammates with Lahaye in 8th, Dhouailly in 9th and Petiz 13th. "We are running well on worn tyres, but we tested some solutions which weren't necessarily the best choice on fresh tyres", explains Matthieu Lahaye.
After having missed the meeting in Estoril while on FIA GT duty, Grégory Franchi (Equipe Verschuur) returned to action by setting the 4th fastest time: "Everything is going very well and I know where we can find those two tenths separating us from the fastest time. I really think we're in with a shout of pole position tomorrow morning."
With the Oregon Team, Massimiliano Pedala was making his Mégane Trophy debut: "Taking part in this event is my reward for winning the Italian Clio Cup title. The Mégane is a totally different car to the Clio and it's not easy to get used to the drive it offers. But it's definitely a great experience and I hope to keep on getting better as the weekend progresses."
