AC Milan and Scuderia Playteam have decided to join the excitement of world class motorsport in the Superleague Formula. Alongside Galatasaray SK, Scuderia Playteam will take up another key role in the new Superleague Formula series also running the prestigious red and black single seater of AC Milan. The partnership is an important step for the Milanese team, working with its local football club.
The idea is that the new Superleague series is to merge the football and motorsport worlds together as part of an ambitious project. The colours of the prestigious AC Milan football club aboard the single seater, 750hp ElianPanoz car add yet another exciting facet to the grid for the new series.
Scuderia Playteam invited a number of leading drivers to test its cars from various racing series at Vallelunga, near Rome (Italy), from February 4-6 in preparation for the team's new upcoming challenges.
The first round is scheduled for the last weekend in August at Donington and it will see Scuderia Playteam committed with two cars. The Galatasaray SK and AC Milan cars will face off against a number of other famous clubs on track including PSV Eindhoven, Olympiakos Pireo, FC Porto, Borussia Dortmund, FC Basilea, RSC Anderlecht, Sevilla FC, Flamenco, Corinthians and Rangers.
A prize of 1 million euro per win will be distributed between the winning teams at each race of the six-round season.
"We are very proud to represent AC Milan in the new Superleague Formula challenge. We talk, in fact, about the Italian football club among the most prestigious and famous in the world. Being our local team also adds a wonderful aspect to the upcoming season," team owner Giambattista Giannoccaro said.
"The shared Italian background will be an added incentive for us. From now fans from all over the world will have an additional reason to be proud of the red-black colours. We will repay our fans'confidence in the team by fighting as hard as we can to win."
