... with Superleague Formula

RSC Anderlecht may have scored a nil-all draw against Standard de Liege at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium tonight, but fans of the purple and white Brussels club believe their team have already scored a key victory with the unveiling of its entry into the new Superleague Formula championship.
The club's 750 horsepower, V-12 powered machine was revealed after 1,500 helium balloons were released by club President, Roger Vanden Stock, General Manager, Herman van Holsbeeck and Superleague Formula President and CEO Alex Andreu.
While the local media and the players had their first opportunity to see the car on Wednesday, tonight was the first occasion for the fans to see the car.
Superleague Formula will feature the colours of 20 of the world's leading football clubs doing battle over a six round championship, starting in August 2008. Not only will Belgium be represented in the championship by Anderlecht, the country will also host a round of the series when Superleague Formula visits Circuit Zolder for its third round.
RSC Anderlecht joins AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven, FC Porto, Olympiacos, Borussia Dortmund, Flamengo, FC Basel and Galatasaray SK on the Superleague Formula grid. Additional clubs will be announced in the weeks ahead.
Tonight's launch continues a tour of famous football stadiums for the Superleague Formula cars. Last week Brazilian club Flamengo unveiled its entry at the Maracana Stadium in Rio while next weekend the championship will visit Switzerland with FC Basel unveiling its entry at St. Jakobspark Basel.
"We have been delighted with the response from the Anderlecht fans here in Brussels this week," Superleague Formula President and CEO, Alex Andreu said.
"We have taken the car throughout Brussels during the week and got some outstanding images from some of the city's most famous landmarks including the Grande Place, the Manneken Pis and the Atomium. Everywhere we have been, people have been fascinated by the car and wanting to know more about the championship.
"Belgium will be a very important market for our championship."

Next year, RSC Anderlecht will join the other clubs doing battle on track at Donington Park (UK), August 29/30; Nurburgring (Germany), September 20/21; Zolder (Belgium), October 4/5; Italy - location TBA, October 18/19; Estoril (Portugal), November 1/2; and Jerez (Spain), November 22/23.
* subject to FIA confirmation.
Anderlecht's entry in the championship will be run by local Belgian squad, Team Astromega. Run by former driver Mikke Van Hool, the Belgian team owner has been swamped with enquiries by drivers since his team's involvement was announced on Wednesday.
"I think every driver in Belgium has either been on the phone or e-mailing me since Wednesday," Van Hool said.
"Everyone is very excited about the performance of this car and there are obviously a lot of Anderlecht fans out there who are racing drivers. Our driver may or may not be a Belgian we will be picking the fastest man for the job we can."
