TCR Australia @ Phillip Island :O'Keeffe wins twice, but Brown is the leader

12.06.2019: Dylan O’Keefe and Will Brown were the dominant drivers in TCR Australia’s second event of the season at Phillip Island. O’Keeffe set pole position and won the first

Dylan O’Keefe and Will Brown were the dominant drivers in TCR Australia’s second event of the season at Phillip Island.
O’Keeffe set pole position and won the first two races of the weekend in his Giulietta Veloce, giving Alfa Romeo its maiden victories in the new series; he then retired in the third race after being involved in a pile up after the start.

Brown, who had won two of the inaugural event’s races at Sydney, was twice runner-up behind O’Keeffe and ended the weekend with a victory in Race 3. These results helped him to build a solid margin in the standings that he now leads by 52 points over O’Keeffe.

All three races at Phillip Island provided plenty of action, with battles for the positions, contacts and spectacular overtaking manoeuvres. Cars from five different brands claimed podium results, including Audi and Renault that made the top-three for the first time, while Holden and Subaru showed they have the pace to fight for the top positions.

Only Honda had a disappointing event, with both cars suffering from flat tyres in Race 2 and involved in the Race 3 accident.

TCR Australia will resume for the third event on July 13/14 at The Bend Motorsport Park.
