Racing Engineering to run four drivers at the Abu Dhabi post-season testing.

29.11.2015: Just three days after the last race of the 2015 GP2 Series all the teams are back in

Just three days after the last race of the 2015 GP2 Series all the teams are back in action in Abu Dhabi for the annual post-season test which starts on Wednesday the 2nd of December and continues on Thursday and Friday.

The four drivers to run in the Racing Engineering cars are Italian Luca Ghiotto, Englishman Jordan King, Frenchman Norman Nato and Russian Sergey Sirotkin.

Twenty-one year old Englishman Jordan King needs little introduction as he has been competing for the Racing Engineering team in the 2015 GP2 Series. In his rookie season he has shown his undoubted ability scoring points in nine races with a best result of 2nd at Spa and he has won a lot of praise for his competitive spirit and his overtaking manoeuvres.

Unlike the other three drivers, who will only be running on one day out of the three, Jordan will take part on all three.

Joining Jordan on Wednesday will be Muscovite Sergey Sirotkin who is twenty years old and he began racing in 2008 in karting before moving up to Formula Abarth in 2010 and in his second season in the class he won both the Italian and European Championships.

For 2012 he competed in the Auto GP World Series and Italian F3 series and he took two wins to finish third in Auto GP and two more wins in the Italian F3 European Series to finish 5th. It was Formula Renault 3.5 in 2013 and he took two podium finishes on his way to 9th and in 2014 he improved to 5th with a win at his home event in Moscow and four podiums.

He also became a test driver for the Sauber F1 team in 2014. Sergey had his debut season in the GP2 Series in 2015 and he has been a front runner for the whole year taking five podiums, including a victory at Silverstone, and he is currently lying third in the 2015 Drivers’ Championship.

Thursday will see Luca Ghiotto’s turn in the Racing Engineering car. Luca is twenty years old and his motorsport career began in karting in 2008 before moving to Formula Abarth in 2011 where he took fifth place in the European Series and in the following year he was second in both the Italian and European Series.

In 2013 he competed in Formula Renault 2.0 Alps and Formula Renault 2.0 NEC taking 5 wins in the Alps championship, finishing as runner-up and ninth in the NEC championship with one win. For 2014 it was the Formula Renault 3.5 Series where he had a mixed season with a best finish of 4th at Monza.

After two races in the GP3 Series in 2014 Luca took part in a full season in 2015 and he immediately showed his pace taking five wins and he finished in second position in the final 2015 Championship standings.

Finally, on Friday, it will be the turn of twenty-three year old Frenchman Norman Nato who began karting in 1998, winning the French K72 Championship before moving to the Formula Renault F4 Eurocup in 2010 finishing as runner-up with two wins.

In 2011 he moved up to Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 taking two podiums as well as a podium in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup. Norman continued in the Eurocup in 2012 winning his first race at Spa and finishing 4th in the Championship as well as finishing runner-up to current F1 driver Daniil Kyvat in the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps.

2013 and 2014 saw the Frenchman racing in the World Series by Renault where he was 13th in his debut season and 7th in the second year with two wins and two podiums. Norman’s first season in GP2, 2015, has shown his progress and he scored points on four occasions to date with best finishes of 6th at Hungary and Monza.
