PK-Carsport hungry for a podium in France
PK Carsport – 2008 / FIA GT R8 NOGARO
The FIA GT Championship is coming to an end with only three races left. This weekend the mighty GT’s will be present in the South of France for the eighth round of the season. Bert Longin and Anthony Kumpen will be one of the main contenders in their PK Carsport Saleen and the fast Belgian duo will try to confirm the results of their previous races in Bucharest and Brno.
But this time around, nothing less than a podium is the objective. PK Carsport was one of the teams present during the pre-season testing at Nogaro and so they hope that their early season efforts will now pay off.
"We had carried out tests at the beginning of April at Nogaro", Bert Longin starts off his story. "We obviously gathered data during the sessions and we shall now try to use these to our advantage this weekend. Testing is an important part of racing and our presence should have a positive effect this weekend."
"And what’s more", Anthony Kumpen continues, "Pirelli has produced some good efforts during these past few weeks and months. The Italian tire manufacturer developed a new compound before Bucharest and this weekend we will get a new tire structure as well.
Given our strong performance in both Bucharest and Brno, we hope to come even closer to victory, before heading off to Zolder in two weeks time, which is our home race of course."
"We only just missed a podium in Bucharest and in Brno, we put up a good performance during qualifying prior to a stupid race incident that put an end to our race", Anthony Kumpen continued . "But the overall feeling was positive after both weekends. All the hard work is starting to pay off and we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel..."
"So now it’s up to the drivers as well to set down a 100% faultless effort and try to end as high as possible", Bert Longin ended. "It would very much be a ‘thank you’ to everybody who is involved in the team."
