Fässler and Buemi learn the track

Fässler and Buemi learn the track

27.04.2007: Fässler and Buemi learn the track

Round 11: A1GP Great Britain Brands Hatch -

Rookie driver Marcel Fässler was in action this morning at Brands Hatch. The sky was grey and overcast with a cool 13 degrees temperature. Between the two rookie sessions he covered 25 laps. In the afternoon the temperature was slightly higher but sill cool, and Sebastien Buemi clocked an eighth fastest

time in the first official practice session with 1.16.381 as Robbie Kerr (GB) was fastest overall with 1:15.086, +0.575s ahead of second fastest, the Indian Narain Karthikeyan.

Marcel Fässler commented, "It was hard work learning this track. But it is beautiful and interesting. I like it. Too bad I won't see more of it. In the rookie practice session I worked mainly on getting the braking fine tuned. The car seems well prepared. There is little to change on the set-up in my opinion. However, I would have liked to do some more laps that would have been useful to our program for the rest of the weekend."

Sebastien Buemi:" I feel all right for this first session with my eighth fastest time. There were lots of red flags, and we are missing a lot of running time. I did my fastest lap in the 27th lap out of 28. It is not the fastest we could have done. If we had not been stopped by Great Britain's Robbie Kerr I could have progressed. The Britain's pace who had laps quicker than the rest of the field is striking. He ended up more than half a second quicker than A1 Team India. Let's see how the morning goes for us tomorrow before the qualifying session. I am confident that the car is progressing well."

Max Welti, Team Principal added: "Both drivers - Marcel Fässler and Sebastien Buemi - have worked very hard. The track is quite tricky but it is clear that Sebastien is very strong mentally and his success in F3 benefit his driving this week-end."

Do not miss the race coverage on, Teleclub/Sport 3 (Switzerland), Eurosport France (France, Switzerland), Sky Italia (Italy, Switzerland), Premiere (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), SKY SPORTS (UK, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Channel Islands), Sogecable (Spain), RTL7 (Netherlands), RTE (Ireland), Halozat Televizio (Hungary), ERT (Greece), Polsat (Poland), Ceske Televize (Czech Republic), OBN (Bosnia), PRVA TV (Slovenia), Fox Latin America/Speed Channel (Latin America), Televisa Sports (Mexico), SABC (South Africa and rest of Africa), Al-Jazeera Sports (Gulf / Middle East and Northern Africa), Fox Sports (Australia), TV3 (New Zealand), CCTV5 (China), 8TV (Malaysia), Global TV (Indonesia), ESPN STAR SPORTS (Asia & Pan Asia).
