What was started as an ambitious project two years ago will find its continuation in the upcoming season – Racing Engineering and its partners continue their search for young and promising drivers, supporting them in their rise through the motor racing ranks.
Racing Engineering, the Andalusian team participating in the Spanish Formula 3 Championship, as well as in the GP2 Series, is organizing a two day selection test for drivers to enter the team in 2007.
Drivers, who have until the 30th of October to send in their C.V. to info@racing-engineering.com will be entered into the pre-selection process.
On the 3rd of November, eight of these drivers will be chosen to participate in the two day test. One extra driver will be named as reserve driver.
On the 16th and 17th of November the selection will take place at the Jerez Circuit. Of those eight drivers, four will be chosen as the drivers, who will be part of the team in 2007. There will also be one reserve driver.
Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon explains: "I was amazed last year by the amount of drivers who wanted to participate in this test. This year, without having even officially announced the test yet, we already have an encouraging number of drivers contacting us. I am very pleased and proud that this project of evaluating young drivers in single seater racing has found such an acceptance. Nevertheless it is important to know that this test is all but a walk in the park for the drivers. It is a full day of intense work for every single one of them.
While in the morning they can still get familiar with the team, the track and the car. After a short lunch break they will have to be very attentive. We will intentionally put some strange set-ups on the cars, in order to see their feedback. It is only in the last two hours that drivers will be allowed to show us their fastest laps and when they choose the correct time to put on the new set of tires."
