Healthcare Seminar Programme will inform, educate and support UAE women Leading healthcare professionals join together to address spectrum of health issues
Women in the UAE can now learn more about vital healthcare issues as a unique package of seminars is available to them at Women’s Healthcare, the UAE’s first health and well being exhibition specifically for women. In response to research which found a lack of awareness among women in the UAE regarding life-threatening illnesses such as diabetes, osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases, IIR Middle East has organised an unrivalled seminar programme to inform, educate and support women in the UAE. Leading healthcare professionals from Dubai Health Authority, Glaxo Smith Kline, Emirates Cardiac Society, Swiss Academy of Acupuncture, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, Advanced Lifestyle Solutions and Philipines Tourism and many more will address a broad spectrum of health and wellbeing issues at the seminar area in Zabeel Hall. All seminars are free to attend for visitors of The Bride Show, Al Bayt Al Arabie and Women’s Healthcare. The Emirates Cardiac Society is holding daily seminars at 9.30pm on how women can take better care of their heart and their health. "Cardiovascular disease is indisputably the most serious neglected health problem for women in both the developing and the developed worlds," said Dr Nooshin Bazargani, Specialist Cardiologist at Dubai Cardiac Centre in Dubai Hospital and Board Member of the Emirates Cardiac Society. The seminar will address how heart disease can be prevented and detected, saving women’s lives every year. Other important health issues will be tackled at the Women’s Healthcare seminars, with experts in a variety of fields discussing risks, symptoms and prevention. On the first day of the event, 23rd April, The Dubai Bone & Joint Centre will hold a seminar about osteoporosis at 4.30pm and later, at 8.30pm, The Dubai Health Authority will run a seminar session on how to prevent and treat diabetes. "Prevention and awareness of the health risks that are specific to women can help to save millions of lives every year. We look forward to the realization of this exciting new event that will help the wellbeing of women in the UAE," said Simon Page, Group Director Life Sciences at IIR Middle East. "It is important that the female population be educated on these life threatening diseases that affect them and their families, especially since many of these risks can be prevented." Cancer prevention will be discussed by the Dubai Health Authority on Thursday 24th April and Saturday 26th April at 8.30pm, and the NMC will address breast cancer at 7.30pm. Alternative medications and treatments will also be addressed, from acupuncture to organic products while the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery will speak about what options they can provide women. Running from 4.00pm to 9.30pm every evening, the programme has been designed to fit into as many women’s schedules as possible, encouraging a greater spectrum of women in the UAE to attend and learn how they can prevent, cure and treat modern day risks and concerns, from heart disease and obesity to dental care and medical tourism. Women’s Healthcare, the first healthcare event in the UAE dedicated to women, runs alongside The Bride Show Dubai and Al Bayt Al Arabie at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from 23-26 April 2008.
