WORLDSERIES BY RENAULT - Seven teams ready to go

03.03.2006: WORLDSERIES BY RENAULT - Seven teams ready to go

Six World Series Formula Renault 3.5 teams have already finalised their driver line-up for the 2006 season: Draco Racing, KTR, Carlin Motorsport, Pons Racing, Cram Compétition, Comtec Racing and Prema Power Team. In total, seventeen of the starting line-up of thirty drivers have already been confirmed. But the transfer window is far from closed!

Dream team for KTR

British driver Robbie Kerr and the Canadian Sean McIntosh will team up for the Belgian outfit for the 2006 season. The two drivers already know something about each other after competing as rivals in A1GP. Supported by John Surtees and Wade Cherwayko respectively, they both have previous experience in Renault single-seaters. After winning the F3 British Championship, Kerr took part in the Eurocup Formula Renault V6 in 2004. As for McIntosh, he was last season's runner-up in the British Formula Renault 2.0 championship.

Comtec go with Danielsson and Jowsey

The UK-based team, which is set to make its debut in FR3.5 this season, will be calling upon the experience of Alx Danielsson, who claimed a podium finish with Dams in 2005. The Swedish driver will line up alongside the youthful Edwin Jowsey (19 yrs old). The British driver competed in Formula Palmer last year and he was given a go at the wheel of the World Series car in tests organized at the Paul Ricard circuit in December of last year.

Borja García joins RC Motorsport

Spanish F3 Champion in 2004, Borja García had a tough time of it last year in GP2. The Spanish driver will be pursuing his racing career this season with RC Motorsport. He hopes to bounce back to form and make his way into F1. He was already given a taste of motorsport's top-flight category when testing for Toyota this winter…

Iaconelli stays at Interwetten Racing

After taking part in the final meeting of the season in Monza with Interwetten, Carlos Iaconelli has decided to take part in the entire 2006 season with the Austrian team. At only 18 years old, the Brazilian looks set to be this year's youngest driver!

Changes validated on the Formula Renault 3.5 car

Renault Sport organized a test session with the Formula Renault 3.5 car at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy on February 18-19. Jonathan Cochet and Markus Winkelhock put the 2006 version of the single-seater through its paces and validated the changes.

SG Formula driver line-up now complete

After winning the Teams' championship in the 2005 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, the French team is back this year and is setting its sights high. After a fourth place in 2005, Dutch driver Carlo Van Dam will expect to be involved in the title fight. He lines up alongside French driver Tom Dillmann and Estonian driver Sten Pentus. Van Dam and Dillmann will also be taking part in the French Championship.
