Nach dem ersten Saisonsieg am Samstag folgte beim zweiten Lauf des Wochenendes im englischen Silverstone am Sonntag gleich ein weiterer Podestplatz für das Interwetten.com Racing Team.

Direkt nach dem Start zum zweiten Rennen der World Series by Renault sah es für den Interwetten.com Racing Piloten Salvador Duran auch erneut hervorragend aus. Von Platz vier gestartet, setzte er sich sofort auf Rang zwei hinter Tabellenführer Giedo Van der Garde fest.

Pablo Sanchez der zweite Interwetten.com Fahrer hatte wie schon im Samstagsrennen Pech und wurde nach einer Kollision erneut ans Ende des Feldes zurückgereicht.

Damit war er zwangsläufig auch einer der ersten beim obligatorischen Boxenstop. Salvador folgte nur wenige Runden später. Beide stoppten schnell und ohne Fehler. Dennoch reichte es nicht, seinen zweiten Platz zu verteidigen.

Pole-Sitter Robert Wickens, der bis dahin auf Rang drei rangierte, blieb länger draußen. Der Kanadier fuhr einen ausreichenden Vorsprung heraus, um schließlich nach seinem Halt vor Van der Garde und Duran aus der Boxengasse zurück auf die Strecke zu kommen. In dieser Reihenfolge erfolgte dann auch der Zieleinlauf.

Salvador war dennoch zufrieden mit seinem Dritten Platz, bemängelte aber: "Die blauen Flaggen kamen eindeutig nicht konsequent genug. Dadurch ging mir wertvolle Zeit beim Überrunden verloren. Mit dem gesamten Wochenende bin ich aber absolut zufrieden. Ich hoffe wir können auf dem Hungaroring daran anknüpfen."

Teamchef Walter Raus schließt sich dem Jubel an. "Salvador ist nun in der Fahrerwertung auf Platz zwei. Um Van der Garde noch einzuholen brauchen wir sehr viel Glück oder er sehr viel Pech. Auf jeden Fall werden wir versuchen, unsere derzeitige Position zu verteidigen. Pablos Wochenende verlief leider sehr unglücklich. Trotzdem ist er ein hervorragender Fahrer. Unser Hauptziel ist jetzt die Teammeisterschaft. Dabei muss er Duran unterstützen."

Pablo war heute mit Platz 24 sehr unzufrieden und sah dementsprechend frustriert aus. Das es auch anders geht, hatte er bereits beim Saisonauftakt in Monza mit seinem vierten Platz bewiesen. In einem Monat auf dem Hungaroring (05. und 06. Juli) hat er bereits die nächste Chance, sein Team beim Sammeln von Meisterschaftspunkten zu unterstützen.
