20 Alpine A110 Cups to tackle Hockenheim!

20.05.2019: The Alpine Elf Europa Cup heads to Germany for the second meeting of the season. In a now 20 Alpine A110 Cup car strong field, the protagonists will have the opportunity at Hockenheim (May 24-26)

The Alpine Elf Europa Cup heads to Germany for the second meeting of the season. In a now 20 Alpine A110 Cup car strong field, the protagonists will have the opportunity at Hockenheim (May 24-26) to confirm or reverse the early trends seen at Nogaro last month.

As was the case in its inaugural season, the Alpine Elf Europa Cup heads to Germany for the second round on the calendar. This year, however, the field is about to discover a new track as they will battle at Hockenheim.

On this fast and technical circuit, the drivers’ nerves will be put to the test between the slipstreaming effect in the Parabolika, the many braking zones were overtaking is a real opportunity as well as the Stadium where the smallest mistake can finish in the gravel!

A COVETED FIRST PLACE

After sharing the wins at Nogaro, Mateo Herrero (Milan Compétition) and Mike Parisy (CMR) head to Germany as the favourites.

The former surprised everyone with a very mature showing in the season-opener and the Junior driver is now expected to confirm on a circuit he has never previously raced at.

Mike Parisy will count on all his experience to try to take command of the general classification in the aftermath of his first victory in the Alpine Elf Europa Cup, but he will not be the only driver to have this goal.

Nogaro podium finishers, Gaël Castelli (CMR) and Vincent Beltoise (Racing Technology) will be out to score a first victory this season to reaffirm their goal: the title. After also tasting the bubbly at the first round of the year, Laurent Hurgon (Autosport GT) will have the same objective, as will Yann Zimmer (CMR), who has been at the sharp end of the order in his return to competition.

EXPECTED REACTIONS

With just one top five result at Nogaro, Nicolas Milan (Milan Compétition) didn’t have the start to the season he had hoped for, but the 2018 runner-up is ready to get his revenge beginning at Hockenheim.

To support his push, he can rely on Antoine Miquel (Milan Compétition), currently second in the Junior classification ahead of Jean-Baptiste Méla (Autosport GP), who is also keen to bounce back following his results at Nogaro that did not live up to his expectations. His team mate, Julien Neveu (Autosport GP) will also try to be in contention for a podium finish to stay in contact with the leaders.

EVERYTHING UP FOR GRABS AMONG THE GENTLEMEN

Thanks to his consistency at Nogaro, Mathieu Blaise (Racing Technology) finds himself leader among the Gentlemen, but he has just a one-point advantage from a chase group of four drivers.

Among them there is Rodolphe Wallgren (Milan Compétition). First in the category in race two at Nogaro, the 2018 French FFSA GT Champion in the Am class will aim for nothing less than the double on the German circuit but he will have to deal with Marc Sevestre (Autosport GP), Denis Gibaud (Milan Compétition) and Franc Rouxel (Racing Technology) in a quartet composed of four different teams!

Following a pointless weekend at Nogaro, Stéphane Proux (Racing Technology) wants to turn things around to stay in contention as long as possible.

CHANGES TO THE ENTRY LIST

Two changes on the entry list as Pierre Macchi (Autosport GP) returns to the Alpine Elf Europa Cup to show the extent of the progress he has made since last year.

Due to Marc Guillot’s commitments, Milan Compétition will rely on his father-in-law Jean-Marc Thévenot, who is also returning to the category with greater ambitions than he had at Dijon last July.

And finally, the n°110 Alpine Cup will, as usual, be entrusted to a guest driver. At Hockenheim, Abbie Eaton (Racing Technology) will be behind the wheel. The journalist from The Grand Tour has more than ten years of experience and has competed in the GT Cup and British GT, becoming the first women to win a race in the Am Cup in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup in 2017.
