We herewith give you an update about the latest developments regarding the 24h race in Dubai January 11-12-13 , 2006. We have been working behind the screen very hard to organise and to solve important issues such as transport, tire service, catering, hotels, flights and many things more. We are pleased to see that the teams are very anxious to hear about news and are contacting us every day with comments and or questions. Below you will find a summary and the status of a few important thing about which we are receiving comments and questions. Please do not hesitate to contact us when having any further questions or remarks. Entry list (Provisional) We are receiving a lot requests to publish the list of participants. We are glad to announce that we have reached an agreement with an international race tire company who will be able to supply most of the regular racing tires, such as Michelin, Pirelli, Toyo, Yokohama on the circuit. Other brands might be serviced on request. Prices will be roughly the same as in Europe. Teams will be able to let their tires change during the race in the paddock. An exact list of available tires and prices will follow on our website soon. Teams will be requested by the tire service company to indicate on which tires they want to run, in order to make sure there will be enough tires to run the 24h race. Catering on the circuit We are receiving a lot of questions regarding the catering for teams and sponsors. In close cooperation with the Dubai Autodrome Racetrack, we will be working with Jebel Ali Catering services who will provide us with a good catering service. Level of quality and in Dubai is very high at a reasonable price. For the teams and sponsors we will have a big tent with nice decorated tables, chairs and good service. We are looking to offer a round a clock buffet service for all participants and team-related visitors at an affordable price. On request special hospitality units can be arranged. Please contact us in time for the necessary information. (See entry form as well) 5 drivers per team We have received several requests if the number of drivers per team could be increased. Pending the approval of the motor sport federations the regulations will be adjusted, so each team is allowed to have max 5 drivers. The Dubai Shopping Festival, Hotels and Flights Quite a few of the participants have visited Dubai or have contacts over there. A few persons who have contacted us are warning us that we have chosen one of the busiest weekends in Dubai due to the shopping festival which starts that weekend. The shopping festival is an international event, which attracts people all over the world to buy tax free items in Dubai. Those people are warning us it will be difficult to book hotels and flights. We found out ourselves that indeed it was hard to book this quantity of (>1250) flights (such as Lufthansa and Swiss Air) and hotels. For the ones we have booked we have an option only for a limited period of time. Therefore we can not emphasize enough how important it is to book in time. This can be done by your self or through our website, www.24hdubai.com. Please keep in mind that booking this travel to Dubai will remain the responsibility for the teams. We will not be responsible for people who will find out in a few weeks or months that the flights and accommodation will be not available or very expensive. There is no reason to wait, cheaper it will not get, but more expensive it will. From the 1st of September all our options on the Budget Travel Package of Euro 699,- pp ex tax and costs are not valid anymore! For the people who already have booked a package will receive the tickets and hotel vouchers in the coming days. Flights from other countries than Germany and Holland. We are working to offer from our website flights from Spain, UK, Austria, Sweden and Italy as well. In the meantime people from above mentioned countries as from Australia and Japan can contact us directly and immediately to see what is actual. We are in touch with several airlines and if you know what hotel you want we will make you an offer in coordination with you from the airport you prefer. Sponsoring and TV coverage We are talking to different parties regarding sponsoring this event which will draw a lot of media attention. Interested parties can contact us for more information. Race car tour through Dubai-City. Strange enough we received questions if we have the support of the Dubai government for the tour through Dubai city with the race cars. We can inform you that we are in close contact with the ministry of Dubai Government Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. Beside the fact that they are thrilled about the race and this initiative they will provide us with the necessary police force and roadblocks to make this happening possible. The exact route will be decided together with the responsible authorities. We will see if we can do a short team presentation during this tour as well. Max cylinder capacity 4000cc for the race cars We have received some questions regarding the earlier mentioned limit of 400Bhp. Due to practical reasons the limit has been changed not into 400Bhp but into max cylinder capacity of 4000cc. This will more practical to check than to check than to check each car for their power. This is clearly stated in the regulations. Cocktail Party and Prize giving Party On the Tuesday night we are organising a cocktail party and BBQ. We want to do this on a special spot outdoors. On the Saturday night after the race will have the price giving party with live music. Chris Fisher, a well know Dubai-DJ from 92 FM will cooperate to make this party to a success. Transport of Cars and equipment We are working on a complete description and protocol about the procedure for loading the cars and equipment into the containers. Quite a few teams have asked us about a quote for loading the container at their home base. This will be possible if a team is renting a full container for their own team. See also the entry form for more information. Please contact us to receive details about this. Most of the loading will be done in Rotterdam. All teams will be contacted with exact details regarding place of delivery and loading time. Race organisation The well-know Dutch DNRT organisation will be in charge during the 24h Dubai Race on 11-12-13th January. This organisation has already over 11 years of experience in organising races in Holland and abroad. With Huub Vermeulen in charge this organisation has developed in Holland over 14 different race classes and is organising each year more 37 days with races for this different classes on different circuits.
