See A1 Team GBR in action for free at Brands Hatch on Valentine’s Day

09.02.2008: See A1 Team GBR in action for free at Brands Hatch on Valentine’s Day

Robbie Kerr to demonstrate the A1 Team Great Britain car at Brands Hatch on 14 February 2008 as part of circuit promotions day. Entrance is free for fans, with action beginning at 9.30am. British fans will have the opportunity to see A1 Team GBR in action at Brands Hatch ahead of the A1GP season finale, when Robbie Kerr demonstrates the power of the World Cup of Motorsport machinery next Thursday, 14 February, at the Kent circuit.

Kerr will be in action as part of the Brands Hatch media day and will thrill the crowds with flying lap demonstrations in the distinctive red, white and blue car. Entry is free to the event at Brands Hatch, with the on track action due to begin at 9.30am.

In addition to Kerr’s outing in the GBR race-winning car, fans will have a unique opportunity to see triple FIA World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx in a head-to-head with fellow British driver Rob Huff. British Superbike star Leon Haslam will be demonstrating the new 2008 Honda Fireblade, and rising F3 star Henry Arundel will be in action.

In addition to all this there will be cars on track from the British GT Championship, DTM and classic racing. For something a little different, Graham Powell and Steve Horne will be on track in their trucks and there will be some amazing display laps from an Autotuner drift car. A1 Team Great Britain utilises the strong-driver line-up of seasoned GBR driver and race winner, Robbie Kerr and last year’s rookie and proven race winner Oliver Jarvis.

With four rounds to go the team are currently sixth in the most hotly-contested A1GP season yet. So far this season the team has scored one race win, courtesy of Jarvis in Zandvoort, and two further podium finishes, with Kerr taking second place in Brno and a third place finish last time out in Sydney. British fans will again have a chance to see their team race for glory in the A1GP car at the 2007/08 A1GP season finale at Brands Hatch on 3-4 May 2008.

The very first round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport took place at Brands Hatch in September 2005. The event was a sell-out and the electric atmosphere saw the international crowd rooting for their respective nations as they battled wheel-to wheel on the Grand Prix circuit.

The crowd returned eighteen months later for season two, as the British round moved to the end of the calendar as the season finale. With the fans patriotically waving Union Jack flags, Robbie Kerr created a piece of series history with the first home win in the Sprint race.

A1 Team GBR will be looking for more race wins at this year’s event. For more information on Brands Hatch, the media day on 14 February, and online booking facilities for the season finale of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, please visit http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/brands-hatch

Robbie Kerr: "Following our home win at Brands Hatch last April, I’m really looking forward to getting back on the track and driving the A1GP car there again next week. The media day is always a good day out for fans, but we obviously hope that they will also come to support A1 Team GBR at A1GP’s season finale at Brands Hatch in May."

Katie Clements, Team Principal: "This media day is the perfect opportunity for the fans to see Great Britain in action and to get the momentum going before the race at Brands Hatch in three months time.

A1GP is not only a unique concept in motor racing, but it also offers fans the opportunity to get close to the drivers and action, something that is not readily available at this level of racing." A1 Team Great Britain is partnered by AquaSP, Playseats and Visit Britain. ENDS - www.a1teamgbr.com
