A1 Team Great Britain, fresh from their fourth season of racing in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport has linked with The Beatles Day Foundation and at the recent British round of the series posed in Beatles wigs to publicise this very worthwhile enterprise.
The annual Beatles Day, which takes place on 10th July is an opportunity for people to show their love for the Beatles and raise money for local worthy causes in and around the Liverpool area. To show their support, the team in the pit lane of their home race at Brands Hatch over the weekend. All of the team members, including the team’s driver, Dan Clarke, were present for a photocall on raceday morning wearing Beatles inspired wigs which have become synonymous with the Beatle Day, with its slogan ‘all you need is a wig’. Clarke also supports the foundation with a logo on his distinctive red and white striped helmet.
A1 Team Great Britain driver, Dan Clarke said of the Foundation, “It’s a really great cause for the team to be supporting; it’s a fantastic mix of fun, music and the opportunity to raise money for deserving causes. Even if you weren’t part of the Beatles phenomenon, everyone has heard their music and it’s great the Beatles day gives people the opportunity to celebrate their legacy. The concert at the Echo Arena in Liverpool is a terrific way to enjoy the best of British music and I hope fans of A1 Team GBR will be there to show their support, but don’t forget your wigs!”
Beneficiaries of the proceeds raised from by Foundation activities include The Imagine Appeal for Alder Hey Children's Hospital and the Marina Dalglish Appeal for a radiotherapy centre in Liverpool. Beatles Day is a chance for the ordinary people of Liverpool and other towns and cities all over the world to take part in Beatles related fundraising activities and events.
The 10th July will be forever known as Beatles Day and that date was chosen for this celebration as it is the anniversary of the Beatles triumphant return to Liverpool from the States and the premiere of the film 'Hard Day's Night' in 1964.
A1 Team Great Britain take a break over the summer months, before the fifth season of racing in the A1GP World cup of Motorsport gets underway later in the year.
