The Mexican team, that competes in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, is getting ready to face a new challenge this weekend in South Africa. Although the A1GP series has visited South Africa the two previous years, this will be its first time at the historic Kyalami racetrak.

The circuit, located in Gauteng, north of Johannesburg, is 4.26km long and has a rich motor racing history that includes several Formula One Grands Prix. The fact that this circuit has slow, medium speed, and fast corners, as well as its altitude of more than 2,000 meters above the sea, will face the Mexican drivers and crew members with a difficult challenge.

Mexican drivers Salvador Duran and Juan Pablo Garcia are ready to deal with a circuit none of them has raced on before.

Before flying to South Africa, Salvador Duran remarked:
“We are ready for the race in Kyalami. From what I’ve been able to see, it is a complicated circuit, with medium speed corners and very few straight sectors; you are steering the wheel most of the time. I've spoken with people who have been there and they also think it is a difficult track".

On his turn, Mexican rookie Juan Pablo Garcia added:
“Back to A1GP activity, this time in Kyalami, South Africa. I don’t know this racetrack, but I've been looking at the layout and training on the simulator to try to get there knowing the circuit as much as possible".

About the race weekend, Duran said:
“Our commitment is to put the team together and give a hundred percent to be back on top. There is still a lot of work ahead. It is difficult to race without training. However, we will do our best effort and we don’t think a good result is out of the question. The only thing we can promise at this time is that we are going to be working very hard and give our best on the track to try and get a good result”.

Mexico A1 Team will go out trying to earn its first points of the season and put an end to the bad luck streak that has haunted them in the last events.

Next round of the A1GP season is Algarve, Portugal.
