Danny Watts to appear at charity karting race at Autosport International at the NEC in Birmingham this Friday, 9 January.
A1 Team Great Britain driver Danny Watts will be appearing at Autosport International this Friday, 9 January, to compete in the BP Ultimate Charity Karting race along with some of racing’s big names in aid of the Richard Burns Foundation.
A firm fixture in the annual events calendar, Autosport International is the largest motorsport exhibition in the world, catering for the racing and automotive industry, offering fans the chance to get up close to the men and machines behind the sport.
In previous years, the charity karting event has become a key part of the weekend and this year is in aid of the brilliant Richard Burns Foundation. The charity was set up in the name of the 2001 World Rally Champion who lost his fight against brain cancer in November 2005, aged just 34. The Foundation’s purpose is to inspire and support people with serious injury and illness, and the money raised from the BP Ultimate Charity Karting race will be used to modify a World Rally Car for rides for terminally ill children and young people and to manufacture karts for limbless and disabled racers.
Each team in this year’s BP Ultimate Charity Karting will feature four celebrity drivers and two members of the public. Danny will be teaming up with A1 Team Ireland’s Adam Carroll and Niall Quinn and Italy’s Edoardo Piscopo. Other names that will take part in the event include Andy Priaulx, Louise Goodman and Tom Kristensen.
For more information on this wonderful cause please visit www.richardburnsfoundation.com and to find out more about Autosport International go to www.autosport-international.com
Danny Watts: “The BP Ultimate Charity Karting at Autosport International is a great way for motorsport industry personalities and racing drivers to all get together to assist in raising funds for charity. This year, I’m delighted that we will be supporting the Richard Burns Foundation. The event is always a bit of fun, but I’m sure the A1GP drivers team will still be competitive and aim to win!”
