A1GP GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH ENTERTAINING FANS GLOBALLY

The A1 Grand Prix series is reaching a global audience via its television viewers and the international corporations that have invested in this unique series in its inaugural year.

When the Series takes to the Sepang International Circuit for the fifth round of the World Cup of Motorsport later this weekend (18-20 Nov) there are 119 TV stations in 119 countries showing the race. Meanwhile, in countries where deals are still in negotiations A1GP has made viewing the races available on the world wide web www.a1gp.com.

"My aim was for the people of each country represented by a national team to be able to watch their driver race for the pride of his nation and we have achieved that" said series Founder, President and Chairman, Sheikh Maktoum. Broadcast Director, Richard Dorfman, also added: "We are on the verge of signing a deal for North America as we have three offers on the table, while in Japan we are in final discussions with two separate channels. Also after our recent involvement in Sportel we are in advanced negotiations with the remainder of our target countries."

"We have one of the most exciting racing series on the planet. We have wheel to wheel racing, overtaking manoeuvres from the front to the back of the field and unpredictable race results with the pit stops pitching some unlikely countries to the top of the leaderboard. We came up with a new qualifying format and this has proved a huge success with both the teams and fans. When the first winner of the World Cup of Motorsport is crowned at the end of the season in Shanghai it will be a country that has performed the best technically with drivers that have driven to the best of their ability," said Sheikh Maktoum.

The sponsorship model that A1 Grand Prix has provided as a platform has proved as an enormous success. The sponsors have enjoyed global coverage while supporting their own nation in the World Cup of Motorsport. That has crystallized in A1 Team Australia with Foster's for the first time in 16 years having to chosen a race car.

A1GP would like to thank the following sponsors for their involvement with the Series and look forward to mutually beneficial long term relationship: ABSA Bank, AC Lighting, Astro, Celmex, Cooper Tires, Emirates, Energem, First Africa, Fisher Paykel, Foster's, Giltrap Group, Investec, Kombat Clothing, Le Royal, Line 7, R9,SABC 3 Sport, Soviet Clothing, Starzone, Yachting Unlimited, Zespri

A1GP is proud to announce it has won the Motorsport Award in the prestigious 2005 Autocar Awards, beating the Renault F1 team who claimed both F1 titles and had the youngest F1 Champion in history. This was presented to A1 Grand Prix at a ceremony in London on Monday (14 November).
