The one-of-a-kind Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship is the region’s most anticipated competition that judges the beauty and majesty of Arabian thoroughbreds




While Dubai International Horse Fair (DIHF) gathers a host of global and regional equine industry players across the globe this week, aspirant horse riders of all ages and families, are set to enjoy a range of entertainment and educational activities.



Taking place from 21 - 23 March 2019 at Dubai World Trade Centre, the event, now in its 15th edition, is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance. Co-located with the event is the 16th Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship.





1.    Exhilarating performances and demonstrations by Dubai Police



Dubai Police will bring in members of their highly trained canine unit to demonstrate their ability to detect a range of substances such as explosives, illegal drugs, wildlife scat, currency, blood, and contraband electronics. A rare performance by Dubai Police’s band and – plus the force’s own horseback tent-pegging contest will also add to the excitement of the Fair.




2.    Spanish performances by Team Z7


Team Z7 showcase Spanish horses in a magnificent dressage routine, a testament to the years of long training and practice. New for this year, they will be bringing some of their thrilling acts including rodeo riding, western riding and bullfighting.




3.    The thrill of the Championship


With USD 4 million ( AED 15 million) offered as prize money, the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship will present majestic Arabian steeds valued at approximately USD 1 million to USD 2 million to horse enthusiasts.




4.    Equestrian art


International and local artists are presenting their finest equestrian masterpieces at the dedicated Art Gallery area, which returns this year. Internationally renowned painters, sculptors and sketch artists will unveil their horse-themed masterpieces. These include intricate oil paintings, life-sized sculptures, mixed media pieces and bespoke items.




5.    First-hand experience of Emirati culture


With horse-riding firmly rooted in Middle Eastern culture, the DIHF Heritage Village will promote the rich history and culture of the UAE. The Heritage Village is a distinct feature enjoyed by all exhibitors and visitors alike. Adorned with colourful and rustic displays, the Heritage Village is an inspirational space featuring traditional Bedouin houses, henna tattoos, falconry, local dishes and handicrafts of the UAE.




6.    The Emirates Falconers Club


The Emirates Falconers Club will make their debut at the Dubai International Horse Fair with a showcase of their unique breed of falcons, hosting live hunting sessions and sharing their expertise on the rich history of the Falcon and its special place in Emirati culture.




7.    The Arabian Saluki Centre


Joining the Fair for the first time will be the Arabian Saluki Centre where they will be showcasing some of their most prized Saluki hunting dogs, where the focus will be on the art of hunting with these beautiful creatures who – unlike most canine breeds – rely on sight rather than scent to track their prey at an incredibly fast pace.





8.    Lamborghini unveiling


Continuing the theme of speed, Lamborghini – the official Car Sponsor of the show – will be on site unveiling their new Urus model; the world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle (SSUV). The SSUV will prove its value to the equine world by towing a horse trailer through the show.


The Dubai International Horse Fair 2019 will be held in Za’abeel Halls 5 and 6 at Dubai World Trade Centre. Opening hours on March 23 are 11am – 8pm. Admission is free of charge and open to trade visitors and the general public. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
