Saudi Arabian driver Feher Al-Shareef and Kuwait’s Hamed Al-Saleh clinched hard-earned victories in the Outlaw and Sleeper categories during the inaugural Kuwait Track Challenge (KTC) at Kuwait Motor Town on Saturday afternoon.  
 


The first event of its kind to be held in the State of Kuwait attracted an impressive field of national and international drivers chasing generous cash prizes across the Pocket Rocket, Sleeper and Outlaw race categories.
 


Local driver Dhari Al-Mouasherji snatched victory and the majority of the prize money in the Pocket Rocket category. The Kuwaiti set a fastest lap of 2min 19.488sec in his BMW M3 after 14 laps of the 5.682km circuit to fend off fellow countryman and runner-up Ali-Al Ibrahim in a BMW M2 by 1.173 seconds.
 


The category for cars with tyres below a 245 profile was well supported and Ahmad Al-Kanderi finished third in his Audi TT RS. Jassim Al-Sarraf (Porsche GT4) and Mohammed Al-Sayer (Toyota GR Yaris) rounded off the top five. Bahrain’s Ali Al-Mansouri (Volkswagen Golf GTi) crossed the finish line with the eighth quickest lap.
 


Hamed Al-Saleh guided his Porsche GT3 to victory in the Sleeper category, the Kuwaiti running for six laps to card his winning tour of 2min 14.653sec. That was sufficient to beat Ahmed Al-Mousasherji’s Porsche GT4 by 1.35 seconds. Mohammed Al-Sabah’s BMW M3 ran for 12 laps and a best tour of 2min 17.789sec was enough for third overall.
 


Fahad Al-Fulaij (Toyota Supra) and Khaled Al-Nasser (Porsche GT4) were classified in fourth and fifth of the 10 entrants in the final.
 


The Outlaw category was open to cars running all tyre sizes, including slicks, and eight drivers battled it out for honours on the Kuwait Motor Town circuit. Victory fell to Saudi Arabian driver Feher Al-Shareef (Porsche GT2 RS) with a fastest lap of 2min 10.642sec.
 


That lap was 0.03 seconds quicker than the fastest run set by runner-up Ahmed Al-Sheehab (Porsche GT2 RS). Zaid Ashkanani rounded off the podium places in his Porsche GT3 RS.
